Allied Arts of Seattle Announces 2021 General Election Candidate Endorsements
We received responses from 4 of the 6 candidates running for Seattle Mayor & City Council and met with them in person or virtually during the endorsement process. The Allied Arts’ Board of Directors subsequently held a meeting and voted to endorse the following candidates listed below:
• For Seattle Mayor, we endorse Bruce Harrell, as the candidate best suited to provide the leadership and focus necessary to move Seattle forward. Mr. Harrell's passion for his native city, coupled with his public and private experience, is the best hope for creating the collaborative environment needed to bring Seattle together through the rapid changes we face.
• For Seattle City Council Position 8 (At-Large), we endorse Teresa Mosqueda, for another 4-year term on City Council. Her focus on affordability, a resilient economy and public safety for all, are core concerns for Seattle residents and she has been a leader in crafting policies and finding the new revenues needed to begin seriously addressing these concerns. Her ability to move policy forward on City Council in her first term is impressive and we look for more of the same. We believe Ms. Mosqueda is best suited to provide the reasoned progressive voice Seattle voters seek on the City Council.
• For Seattle City Council Position 9 (At-Large), we endorse Sara Nelson, as the candidate whose diverse background, small business experience and years of service on City Council staff, will provide the balance sorely needed on the City Council going forward. We believe that Ms. Nelson can credibly bring a fresh view to City Council with an ability to work collaboratively with the many strong voices within it to craft the policies needed to address the many fundamental issues facing Seattle.
Allied Arts of Seattle extends our thanks to all the candidates who participated in our 2021 General Election endorsement process. We are encouraged by the high quality of all the candidates and their willingness to serve Seattle residents in such a demanding and challenging environment.
