These service dogs will serve their Warrior owners for the rest of their careers.

We improve the lives of America’s Warriors facing mobility challenges and trauma-related conditions such as PTSD and TBI by providing the highest quality assistance dogs and canine-assisted therapeutic programs. Under the guidance of PPH instructors and partner organization healthcare professionals, Warriors (Active Duty Service Members or Veterans) with PTSD and TBI engage with specially-bred Golden and Labrador Retriever puppies during therapeutic sessions that help them overcome their symptoms and reintegrate into civilian life. They help the dogs learn more than 110 commands so that when they graduate as full-fledged service dogs they can be given to Warriors who have sustained mobility-limiting injuries and/or PTSD.

For someone living with PTSD, a nightmare can feel incredibly real.

A trained Paws for Purple Hearts Service Dog can interrupt the nightmare by providing deep pressure therapy, using their body as a weighted blanket to offer comfort, grounding, and support. There are many ways to interrupt a nightmare or anxiety attack, this is just one of the many ways our dogs intervene. 🐾💜

In honor of Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. This was an incredibly insightful event. Reach out, educate yourself on how to help, stay compassionate, and remove barriers like stigma.

A special thank you to Highline College and WA Dept of Veterans Affairs for hosting this important event. Paws for Purple Hearts was honored to attend and meet with so many amazing people offering resources for Veterans.

I’m thrilled we were able to share a little about Paws for Purple Hearts and the importance of Service Dogs in the Veteran community. Our Service Dogs can be life-changing and life saving at times. 💜🐾

Today, we honor and remember the first responders, volunteers, and the Service Dogs, who selflessly served in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for the heroes who stepped forward when they were needed most. 🇺🇸🐾

Thank you to Collaborative Partners Initiative for inviting us to join the Tacoma Rotary Club #8 meeting today! 💜 Yzma had such a fantastic time meeting everyone!

She was so well-behaved that we actually had to point her out to people who approached us. She was patiently tucked under the table, waiting for her handler to give her the next command. 🐾

Yzma is making incredible progress in her training, and it’s all made possible through spreading awareness of our nonprofit. The support of our amazing community partners is invaluable and we are always so appreciative to be a part of moments like these. Partnerships help us sustain our programs, provide meaningful experiences for our Warriors, and continue giving Service Dogs in training, like Yzma, the training they need to succeed. 🌟💜

Thank you for supporting our mission of Warriors Helping Warriors!
