To provide rescue, care, and rehoming of stray and unwanted cats and kittens. To also assist with medical care for feral cats and cats of people on fixed incomes. We place cats and kittens into safe and loving homes and work with caretakers to trap/neuter/return cats and place the feral kittens into foster care for adoption once tamed.

RIP CHRIS and many of the cats at HAPPY CAT SANCTUARY

I woke up to very devastating news. Happy Cat Sanctuary caught fire and many cats perished. Chris is the founder of the sanctuary and he perished while trying to save his cats. I along with the rest of the rescue community are very sad today.

Happy Cat Sanctuary took in so many feral cats from unsafe areas, cats with social and physical issues, cats from hoarding cases, and cats from other rescuers. Besides adopting out the friendlies, they offered safe haven for any of the others who needed a forever home.

A few years ago I pulled a cat from ACC's at risk list. Nine times in a row she was posted to be at risk for euthanasia, and tons of people tagged me to help. I pulled her and found out that she was very temperamental, biting hard while being pet, and chasing my feet and attacking if I walked away. CHRIS found out about my experience with her and offered to take her. That is my experience with the sanctuary, and so many other people have brought them cats over the years. So many cats passed away today, I hope my cat survived, I hope all of the ones in the hospitals right now will survive.

If you followed their social media accounts you would see how great the cats lived and it always made me smile. Today is such a bad day.

George showed up at a kind man's home over the summer and began to hang out 24/7. The man wanted to adopt him so asked us for help with trapping and neutering. Once trapped we found a microchip leading to George's happy owner. George had been missing for about a year and had made it about a mile from home. Thanks to the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project for chipping George and helping us track down his owner.

So happy to be part of the team able to reunite Soft Kitty to her family's new home in Michigan. Her care taker died two years ago. Neighbors took over her care. When they moved to Michigan she would not allow herself to be loaded into the carrier and ran off. Other neighbors then took over her care. We were able to foster her for a few weeks until a relative of her family that moved to Michigan was able to fly to to reunite Soft Kitty.

The need for foster homes is greater than ever. Bring a little joy into your life and home and help save some lives!
