Connected communities do more than support the people who live in them. They strengthen the fabric of our democracy.

In a moment when many people are feeling fear, grief, or uncertainty, cohousing and other intentional communities have real tools to offer. Shared spaces. Strong relationships. Mutual aid. Civic participation. The ability to turn toward one another and act from abundance rather than fear.

CohoUS Executive Director, Trish Becker-Hafnor, shares practical ways communities can engage right now, from supporting local mutual aid networks to opening common spaces for organizing, learning together, and strengthening neighborhood connections.

Tucked into the trees 🌲
Crow Woods Cohousing is a beautiful example of how thoughtful design can live lightly on the land. This 9-home community is carefully woven into the forest, preserving mature trees while creating shared spaces that invite connection with nature and with each other.

What makes it even more special? Crow Woods was made possible through creative use of ADU legislation, showing what’s possible when policy, design, and community values align.

Want to experience it in person? Crow Woods is a featured stop on our Pacific Northwest community tour on May 17. Come see how cohousing can grow from the forest floor up.
