We open the 2026-2027 Nordic Chamber Music season with Denmark - Ugly Ducklings. Referencing Danish author H. C. Andersen's famous children's story juxtaposing perceptions of ugliness (different) and beauty in the life of a swan, we explore Danish music for two (different) instruments - the viola and bass clarinet. With the Darkwood Consort, the deep, rich tones played by bass-clarinetist Aage Nielsen and violist Jennifer Drake will demonstrate the true beauty of these instruments through duets by beloved Danish composers.

Stay after the concert on Sunday to meet the musicians and enjoy tasty Danish treats and festive atmosphere compliments of the Northwest Danish Association.
