✯ ✯ ✯ Puget Sound Honor Flight Mission #44 – Mission Accomplished! ✯ ✯ ✯

Puget Sound Honor Flight Mission #44 returned home to an incredible reception of supporters.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the Puget Sound Honor Flight staff and volunteers for making this mission possible and for caring for our veterans with such dedication and compassion.

Cathay Foo Dogs, under the leadership of Post Commander Erin McGlenn, were out in full force. We were proud to be alongside VFW Post 6785 - Kent, WA, Patriot Guard Riders, USO, USCG Auxiliary, TSA Honor Guard, Nucor Steel, American Heritage Girls, Trail Life Scouts, family members, and many other supporters who came together to honor our heroes.

After the welcome ceremony, we headed downstairs to the airport 7-Eleven for refreshments. A very generous PSHF guardian volunteer recognized our group and treated each of us to a Slurpee.

Small gestures like this remind us of the strong sense of camaraderie and appreciation shared throughout the Honor Flight community.

As Foo Dogs, we are grateful for our freedoms, our veterans, and the opportunity to support Puget Sound Honor Flight missions each year.

We hope to see even more members come out and participate in the next PSHF mission. It is truly an honor to stand together in support of our fellow veterans.

✯ ✯ ✯ Serving Those Who Serve ✯ ✯ ✯

On May 12, 2026, Cathay Post #186 reaffirmed its mission of “Serving Those Who Serve” by supporting Coast Guard personnel during Sector Puget Sound’s recent “All Hands” meeting.

Our Post recognized MST1 Tyler Yousif as Enlisted Person of the Quarter and provided snacks and beverages to help boost morale and support operational readiness for our local Coast Guard members.

Post Vice Commander Robert Dela-Cruz delivered remarks that blended appreciation with humor, describing the donated energy drinks, protein snacks, trail mixes, and healthy alternatives as part of a “Tactical Nutrition Response Team.” His lighthearted comments about military life, caffeine dependence, fitness standards, and long workdays highlighted the importance of morale, readiness, and resilience among Coast Guard personnel.

Sector leadership expressed their gratitude for the support, with the Sector Commander sharing that the team “loved it,” was “very appreciative,” and thankful for Cathay Post’s continued commitment to the Coast Guard community.

The event concluded with congratulations to MST1 Tyler Yousif and a reminder for Coasties to “stay alert, stay motivated, stay mildly over-caffeinated,” and remain “Fit to Fight.”

Special thanks to Gesa Credit Union for supporting our Morale Boost Missions in service to our Hometown Heroes.

✯ ✯ ✯ Puget Sound Honor Flight Mission #44 ✯ ✯ ✯

May 9, 2026 — Members of American Legion Cathay Post #186 “Foo Dogs,” along with veterans and civilian volunteers, gathered at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport to help send off Puget Sound Honor Flight Mission #44 — the organization’s second trip of 2026.

Seventy-five veterans departed for Washington, D.C., including one World War II veteran, several Korean War veterans, and Vietnam War veterans — including seven women veterans. Volunteers assisted with luggage, mobility support, and check-in assistance to help ensure a smooth departure.

For many veterans, this was their first visit to the Nation’s Capital and the memorials dedicated in their honor. The sendoff was filled with smiles, gratitude, and strong community support.

Volunteers will return to Sea-Tac on Monday evening, May 11, to welcome Mission #44 home following their memorable three-day journey.

Special thanks to Puget Sound Honor Flight and all volunteers and sponsors who made this mission possible.
