Fasten Your Seatbelts ✈️ We’re Not Backing Down! Contract Mediation Begins NOW

Today marks the official start of mediation in our fight for a fair and respectful contract and we are showing up strong, united, and ready.

You’ll see Flight Attendants across Horizon proudly wearing their red AFA pins. Here’s what that pin means and why it matters more than ever:

🔴 It’s Our Symbol of Unity The red pin is officially authorized by our union leadership a powerful symbol worn across the industry to show that we stand together.

🔴 We Support Our Negotiating Committee Every time you wear your red pin, you’re telling management: We believe in our Negotiating Committee. We support their efforts. And we demand real progress.

🔴 We Demand to Be Seen and Heard . We are safety professionals, aviation’s first responders, and the face of Horizon. Our work keeps this airline running and it’s time our contract reflects that.

🔴 We Join a Powerful Legacy. From United to Alaska, Piedmont to Hawaiian, AFA Flight Attendants have worn the red pin to push for better pay, protections, and respect. Horizon Flight Attendants are now writing the next chapter of that movement.

💥 This isn’t just a pin it’s a message. We’re done being overlooked. We’re done being undervalued. We are not backing down until we win the contract we’ve earned.

June 19th marks the anniversary of Juneteenth, otherwise known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day. Although the Emancipation was signed almost two and half years before, it wasn’t until this day in 1865 that the remaining 250,000 people who had been enslaved were liberated in Texas. Newly “Freed” Black women and men turned this day into a celebration, establishing Juneteenth.

While Juneteenth is a celebration of this unwavering strength and spirit, it’s also a reminder that we cannot ignore hate and prejudice in this country. Equality is an ongoing commitment. We will continue to fight for equality and justice wherever we can, in our workplaces and in our democracy.

To Black Flight Attendants: We hope today is a day full of Black joy as you celebrate your power and resilience.

On Juneteenth, and every day: Black Lives Matter.

AFA Horizon Master Executive Council passes a resolution to adopt the Red AFA Pin as our official pin. A resolution was initially submitted to the MEC in Sept 2024 by Council 16 President Jennifer Levcun in response to the embarrassing pay increase proposed by management. The start of the red pins coincides with the first day of mediation, June 23rd.

June is Month! AFA supports all LGBTQ+ Flight Attendants and workers as we fight for protections on the job and in our communities. AFA’s mission is to unite all Flight Attendants and promote equality and employment for all, regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. This has been codified in our Constitution since 1976.

LGBTQ+ communities are under attack across the nation and the Pride movement is growing in response. AFA plans to be at as many Pride events as possible. We have partnered with Pride at Work to make sure that we can be in our own communities but also that we aren’t alone when we stand with Pride.

Flight Attendant solidarity is more important than ever to ensure that our profession and each of us are shown the respect we have earned.

Pride Month is coming up. We look forward to this annual celebration all year long, and this year is no different. LGBTQ+ communities are under attack across the nation, and the Pride movement is one of the most visible, joyous, and important ways for us to fight back and take up space.

This Memorial Day Weekend, we honor the sacrifice of so many. We rededicate ourselves to honoring their sacrifice by fighting for good jobs and healthy communities at home. We honor them and their families who have only the memory of their loved ones today. Memorial Day must live in our hearts every day. Stay safe and take care of each other.
