Good Afternoon Umoja Scholars! 😀

I want to extend a warm welcome for you to join us for a special guest speaker for our upcoming Workshop Wednesday on November 9th from 12:00PM - 3:00PM! Drego Little is a Seattle native, and he's now a renowned scholar and professor at Seattle University (read more about him here: KUOW - How a terrible teacher inspired a boy who became the wonderful Mr. Little) Professor Drego will be speaking to us about intellectual competency, and the workshop is designed to help students get more out of what they're reading. We will eat and commune together from 12-1, and Professor Drego will be speaking from 1-3PM.

The workshop will present students with a small set of strategies that allow them to: self-check their understanding as they read; map texts for later study and review as they read; and support their understanding in ways that allow them to see internal and external connections in texts. We will be meeting in our classroom (Room 3201/3202) on the 3rd floor of the college as usual, and the workshop will also be available via Zoom using this link:
