For the last five years our team has worked with local unions to build density in Seattle’s professional stadiums industry. When Seattle was announced as a host city for FIFA World Cup 2026, we got to work building new models to make sure workers will be protected and see more of the profit their labor creates for this landmark event.
Yesterday, we presented to the HHHS committee alongside and the Seattle World Cup host committee on our progress towards building a legacy of prosperity for workers and communities who have all too often been shut out of mega event planning. Thank you to King County, and Councilmember Mosqueda, for making this investment in innovative, union-represented event work that will continue to impact our region long after the World Cup.
