Today's the day! Our Safer Communities Start With Us campaign ends tonight at 11:59 pm.

Thanks to this incredible community, we've already reached 79% of our goal. Every donation has helped support violence prevention across Washington, and every gift made today will help us finish strong.

Your support invests in prevention advocates, healthy relationship education, youth leadership, and communities working every day to create safety, respect, and belonging. If you've been thinking about donating, now is the time.

Safe communities are built through relationships.

"When young people have consistent access to support and stability, they are able to build the confidence and resilience that carry them forward."

Prevention advocates across Washington work every day to create those opportunities through youth leadership, positive development programs, and trusted relationships with caring adults. When young people feel connected to their communities and invested in their future, everyone benefits. Thank you to Shannon Russell of Room One for sharing why prevention matters.

We're 75% of the way to our goal! Every donation helps support violence prevention across Washington. equipping communities with the tools, relationships, and resources to build safety before violence happens.

There are just two days left to help us reach our goal. If you've been meaning to give, now is the perfect time. Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer. And top fundraisers win exciting prizes, like an overnight cottage stay, throwing the first pitch at an upcoming Seattle Mariners game, a Mariners game suite, and more!

Together, we're building safer communities where everyone can experience respect, belonging, and healthy relationships.

What does violence prevention look like? It starts with believing that violence is preventable.

"If we want to end generations of violence, our communities need to believe that violence is preventable. Investing in prevention tells survivors that we, as a community, will prioritize addressing the precursors to violence, not just the aftermath. Prevention is the work of helping our communities understand that violence is not inevitable...it's preventable."

β€” Paris Chapman, Transformative Justice & Prevention Manager, Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence

Every day across Washington, prevention advocates are helping communities build the skills, relationships, and support systems that make violence less likely to happen in the first place. Your support helps make that work possible.

Elise Morris knows the impact a coach can have. After competing as a professional soccer player, she now leads Team Up Washington, helping coaches create team cultures rooted in respect, belonging, and healthy relationships.

Safer communities start with us, and programs like Team Up Washington are growing the roots of violence prevention and healthy relationships on playing fields, in locker rooms, and through the adults young people look up to every day. Your support helps make that possible.

What does violence prevention look like? It looks like:
- Coaches modeling respect.
- Young people learning healthy relationships.
- Communities creating spaces where everyone belongs.
- Friends showing up for one another.
- Prevention advocates building connections.

Prevention happens every day, and together, we can help it grow!

Violence is not inevitable. Every day, people across Washington are creating the conditions for safety, respect, belonging, and healthy relationships. That's what violence prevention looks like.

Today we're launching Safer Communities Start With Us, our virtual fundraising campaign supporting violence prevention across Washington.

From now through July 31, you can donate, create a fundraising team, or help spread the word! Together, we can build communities where violence is less likely to happen in the first place.

πŸ“£ ACTION ALERT! Tell HUD: Protect the Equal Access Rule! πŸ“£

HUD is proposing to eliminate protections that help make sure that LGBTQIA+ people can access HUD-funded housing and shelter programs without discrimination.

For survivors leaving unsafe homes, safe housing is often the difference between safety and continued violence.

Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming survivors already experience disproportionately high rates of violence and housing instability. We cannot solve homelessness or support survivors by creating more barriers to shelter.
