Rick played for the Seattle SuperSonics during the 2005–06 season and now serves as an assistant coach for the Knicks. This championship is even more meaningful because he experienced it alongside his son, team captain, and Finals MVP Jalen Brunson. Their remarkable father-son journey, built on discipline, accountability and unwavering support, culminated on basketball’s biggest stage.

For 41 seasons, the Seattle SuperSonics gave us unforgettable moments on the court. Some of us remember the 1979 championship parade, the electric GP-to-Shawn Kemp alley-oops, or watching a 19-year-old Kevin Durant light up Key Arena.️

Beyond the hardwood, our Sonics were true community heroes. From Read to Achieve programs and youth basketball camps to players showing up at local schools, the bond between Seattle and its team runs deep.

As we look forward to the team’s return with absolute positivity, we’re proud to keep highlighting the legends who gave their all for our city. 💚💛
