Getting back to Zoom classes has been tough — join us tomorrow, Jan 21st, 1:30-2:30pm for snack/lunch time! Today’s officer spotlight is on Christine Chu (she/her), our Marketing Director! She’s a junior studying Violin Performance and Communication and plays in UWSO. As Marketing Director, Christine sends out email blasts before and after General Meetings and manages SoMSAC’s social media. If you ever DM us on Instagram, she’ll be the one replying to you!

Next in officer spotlights is Renee Zhang (she/her), our SoMSAC Secretary! As Secretary, Renee keeps the meeting agendas and minutes, and also sends out meeting reminders via email. You can talk to Renee about this position or apply with the nomination form in our bio until April 25!

As nominations continue, we’ll be featuring some of our officers and sharing their journey to SoMSAC. To kick us off, we have SoMSAC President Maria Rivera (she/her), Principal Tubist in the UW Wind Ensemble. As President of SoMSAC, Maria oversees the general direction of SoMSAC, presides over meetings, communicates with Director Taricani, and keeps spirits high!

“Music is important to me because I can express myself in a variety of ways. I can listen to music that reflects the mood that I’m feeling on any given day, play music on my tuba while making musical decisions on some of my favorite pieces, and create music using a variety of tools and explore my own creativity.”
