Dear Toastmasters friends,
It is with great sadness to inform you that we have decided to close Freely Speaking Toastmasters. We spent the full meeting on September 22, attended by 5 members, discussing what our choices are. We concluded that closing the club was the best and only option. The main reason is that our membership has gradually declined, and recruiting new members has been difficult. Only 5 of our current members have expressed interest in renewing their membership if we continue to remain as an active club. Two of our officers are moving to Europe this year.
We also made two other decisions. We agreed to donate the balance of the money in the club’s checking account to Lambert House, a very worthwhile organization supporting LGBTQ+ youth.
The second decision was to organize a celebration party, date, time and location to be announced. All current and former members will be invited.
Once the club officially closes, we will no longer have access to Toastmasters International, including easySpeak. Therefore we will communicate through our Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/freelyspeakingtoastmasters/.
I will miss FSTM. Over the years I have made many good friends in the club. look forward to staying in touch with all of you.
