December 14th 2023 marks the official opening of SIFF Downtown; formerly known as the Cinerama!

Within the last month SIFF has hired many new Cinema employees, which has more than doubled the number of workers we represent. The SCWU is excited to celebrate this expansion with SIFF and welcome all of our new members to the union!

With that being said, we are continuing to bargain over our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SIFF Administration. We have recently secured a tentative agreement over our Closed Shop proposal and continue our fight for living wages. Our main obstacle at this time is covering the fees that go into our legal counsel. Donating is the #1 way you can support the SCWU as we build a sustainable working environment within the Seattle film community! During opening night of SIFF Downtown we came out to do some handbilling with pamphlets, stickers and buttons (don’t worry we got plenty left over!) with the intent to drum up support from SIFF movie goers. We deeply appreciate all the support we received last night and continue to receive from all of you!
