From starting in a small room at the Sheraton with no more than 300 attendees to hosting at the Seattle Convention Center Summit for over 2,500 attendees โ€” this celebration has evolved into a treasured tradition that directly funds life-changing resources for King Countyโ€™s Black and underserved communities!

No one can speak to the eventโ€™s growth better than the longest-tenured member of our staff, Chief Programs Officer Ms. Linda Taylor, who worked side by side with our CEO and President Michelle Merriweather planning the earliest Breakfasts from the ground up.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œI just canโ€™t believe it; all the flowers [for the event] used to fit in my car.โ€

Fast forward to 2026, and we now work with award-winning event teams who help us unload *multiple* U-Haul trucks filled with flowers for our seating!

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ The expansion of this event is only possible through the dedicated support of community members like you!

๐Ÿ Opened in 1998, Osteria La Spiga became an immediate fixture in the local food scene with authentic cuisine inspired by the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. In Week 5 of the Pack the House Series, we meet Osteria La Spigaโ€™s co-owner, Sabrina Tinsley, one of the few Black chefs in our region operating an Italian-cuisine-based restaurant.

Sabrina recently sat down with the folks at The Seattle Medium to speak on her origins as a chef raised in Alaska and the journey around the world that led her back to launch one of Seattleโ€™s most acclaimed culinary establishments.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œThe food is inspired by the region of Emilia-Romagna, famous for Parmesan cheese, prosciutto di Parma and balsamic vinegar. Itโ€™s really considered the culinary cradle of the world, so we focus our cuisine around that region, and itโ€™s probably the apex of comfort food,โ€ said Tinsley. โ€œWe do handmade pastas and classic shared appetizers that encourage community and sharing. People leave happy and pleasantly full.โ€
