Matchbox family fun days are a monthly opportunity for silliness, memory making, and connection.

FUN GAME ALERT! This is a great game to beat summertime boredom. It’s from our July OLYMPICS Matchbox. When families open their July box, they will see an “official” letter from the International Olympic Committee outlining the new games they want to add to the Summer and Winter Olympics. But first, the games must be tested! Families will spend the day going for the gold as they play 10 silly games, making the very best memories along the way.

We call this game SNOW CARVING:

Fill a food storage container with flour and pack it in full, then turn it upside down on a plate or tray (kind of like making a sand castle). Place a small piece of candy on top.

Players take turns using a butter knife to carefully carve a bit of “snow” from the mound...just don’t be the one who causes the candy on top to fall!

This game starts off kind of slow, but the more you carve the more hilariously intense it becomes! WARNING: At the end, this game might devolve into a floury extravaganza of sensory play...so feel free to enjoy this activity outdoors. 😉

Our theme for July’s Matchbox Day is OLYMPICS! We have created 10 sillys games for families to test out to see if they should be added to the official Olympic Games. 😄🏅💪 We’re also inclduing two craft kits, a super fun snack activity, and a family set of TLC-Gold sweatbands!

🥇GOLD MEDAL TREATS!
Families will delight in the sweet taste of victory as they wear (and then eat) these awesome Olympic snacks! All we need is Oreos and Fruit-by-the-Foot.

SUMMER OLYMPICS:
🔥BE THE TORCH
Transform your family into living Olympic Torches! Cover shower caps with shaving cream, then toss Cheetos at one another to see how many you can get to stick. The result? The most hilarious Olympic Torches ever!
It’s never been this fun to buy shower caps and shaving cream!

WINTER OLYMPICS:
❄️SNOW CARVING
Players take turns carefully carving a bit of “snow” (flour) from the mound...just don’t be the one who causes the button on top to fall!
We need containers and carving tools!

WINTER OLYMPICS:
🍩SNOW-POWDERED DONUT CHALLENGE
Hang a powdered donut by a string and race to see who can finish first...no hands!
Send us some string and donuts!

SUMMER OLYMPICS:
🍿POPCORN FEET
In this thrilling foot race, participants velcro small buckets of popcorn to their shoes and race a distance to see who can spill the least amount of popcorn!
These flower pots and velcro strips are essentials for fun!

Suffice it to say: we are OVERWHELMED! We were honored to be selected as a beneficiary at the 3rd annual Paddle Palooza fundraiser event, hosted by TPG. The pickleball was intense, and the generosity was lavish! This thoughtful group of folks raised more than $63,000 to be split between TLC and Outdoors for All Foundation, and they did it with sincerity, enthusiasm, and JOY. What a privilege to watch these generous people shine so bright! This is the biggest donation we’ve ever received, and our first experience with a giant check, which was every bit as exciting as you would imagine. 😂 Thank you to all who joined in the fun! Props to Kate Drake, Kenny Drake, Diane Armstrong Pearson, and Josh Pearson for playing in the tourney and representing TLC so well! (Josh and Diane came in 2nd place in their bracket!) And a very special shout out to Jean Fisher Shearer for inviting us to apply and for supporting TLC so faithfully (and also placing first in her bracket!), and to Kevin Shearer for always bringing the enthusiasm. Throw back to last Thursday when this amazing crew of UW students took an hour during the busiest time of the school year (and on a gorgeous sunny day) to assemble 100+ craft kits that we’ll be sending to regional children’s hospitals. Amazing!! These craft kits will give kids something fun to do during long clinic visits, and they also function as an invitation for families to become part of our monthly Matchbox program. We’re so thankful for these hard-working and committed folks!

These girls let their light SHINE last weekend! They had an idea that was full of joy and generosity, and they made it happen—cold brew, cookies, and lemonade on a sunny spring day, with all proceeds supporting TLC families! And those treats must have been tasty because they raised $369!! Thank you and lots of high-fives to Elise, the mastermind behind this operation. Every dollar will spark joy and make the heavy burden of childhood cancer just a bit lighter. 🔆☕️🍋🍪

We love what they wrote on their sign: “Join our mission! Cancer = ☹️ / Treats = 😀”

Calling all PICKLEBALLERS! The Light Collective has been selected as a beneficiary for a VERY fun charity event, and YOU can be a part of it!

The 3rd Annual TPG Paddle Palooza is happening on Wednesday, June 10.

This is truly a pickleball party like no other—a chance for all paddle pros and court conquerors to grab a partner, bring the spins, and join the smashin’ showdown. It’s fast-paced, high-energy fun for a great cause!

Kyra and her family were part of The Light Collective during her treatment. Her family has launched a remarkable foundation in her name, and we want to be sure TLC families are aware of an upcoming event they’re hosting! Here’s more information from the Foundation about Kyra’s Day of Light on Sunday, May 31, 3-5pm.

“This May 26th, Kyra would have turned 13. She never got to blow out those candles, open those gifts, or step into the chapter that was supposed to be hers. But her spirit, radiant, brave, and impossibly kind, never stopped lighting the way.

So we are starting something in her honor. Something that will return to this community every single year, as long as there are children who need to be reminded they are not alone.

Kyra’s Day of Light is a sanctuary. A day set apart from appointments and waiting rooms and the relentless weight of treatment. A day built for children in active treatment, for survivors carrying the marks of their journey, and for legacy families who hold their child’s love in their hearts and bring it with them wherever they go.

We are gathering at the Yuan Ru Art Center in Bellevue, a space full of creativity, color, and calm, to spend a Sunday together. To create. To breathe. To be held by a community that truly understands the road you are walking.

This is the inaugural launch of what we hope becomes a tradition as enduring as Kyra’s memory. Every year, on the day the world should have been celebrating her, we will celebrate the families she would have wanted most to surround with love.

Save the date. Bring your family. And know that on May 31st, you will not be carrying this alone.”

SPRINGO 2026! Our annual spring fundraiser was a swashbuckling success! We raised $20,965! Wow wow wow wow wow! The afternoon couldn’t have been better—refreshing and delicious beer on a sunny day, delightful reconnection with great friends, and the thrill of shouting “Bingo” for a chance to grab something fun from the Pirate Ship Prize Table! Absolutely unforgettable. Thanks to all who joined the fun—your generosity sparks joy and connection for TLC families. 💛🏴‍☠️
