“As much as we teach choral music, our mission is really rooted in the skills and the mindsets and the habits that one develops for life.” — Marcia, Northwest Boychoir Interim Executive Director.

Every week, up to 150 young singers walk through the doors of UHeights for Northwest Boychoir & Vocalpoint Seattle rehearsals. They join as early as 1st grade and stay for years, building not just musical skills but the friendships and habits that shape who they become.

“We see kids blossom,” she says. “They come in as six and seven-year-olds and stay for years, forming friendships, wrestling with tough music together, and sharing moments only their peers can truly relate to.”

Northwest Boychoir is one of many resident organizations that call UHeights home. When you give to UHeights, you're not just supporting one program. You're sustaining a place where kids grow into who they are, where arts organizations put down roots, and where community keeps showing up year after year.

We have 4 days left and $12,048 still to raise before our May 31 deadline. If you've been meaning to give, this is the moment.

What an incredible weekend at the U District Street Fair! We loved connecting with so much our community. 💛

A big thank you to U District Seattle for hosting and to everyone who came by our tent! The prize wheel was a massive hit, and we completely underestimated how popular it would be. We'll definitely be coming better stocked next time! 😅

“Be present and in the moment—and just show up.” — Jim Hansen, UHeights Board Member

When Jim joined the UHeights board, he brought decades of experience—but what’s kept him committed is something much simpler: showing up for his community.

Over the past few years, Jim has helped guide major building improvements, often working behind the scenes to make sure projects stay on track and serve the people who rely on this space every day. One moment has stayed with him—standing on the third floor after the new elevator opened, watching community members access a space that had never been within reach before.

That’s what being All In for UHeights means. It’s not just about maintaining a building—it’s about creating access, connection, and a sense of belonging.

From critical upgrades to community programs and arts events, every part of UHeights is built around that idea: that this space should be open and welcoming to everyone.

If you believe in spaces like this, we invite you to be part of it.

Meet Dale Hoff. UHeights board member, memoir writing student, and someone who is truly All In for this community.

Dale joined the UHeights board through his church across the street, drawn by a belief that this place is worth protecting. But as he learned more about UHeights, he found himself drawn to our Memoir Writing Group, a class he almost skipped.

What he found there changed things. "The writing class friendships are purely a delight," he says. "Everyone really cares about the center. From community events to holiday parties, you know people care about UHeights and this community."

Dale sees UHeights as something the U District can't afford to lose. "For a long time, UHeights was the only community space outside of the university, a hub for farmers markets, arts and culture groups, neighbors coming together. It's a great place that needs to be preserved for the community."

Today is GiveBIG Washington's annual day of giving, and Dale's story is exactly why it matters. Every gift helps ensure UHeights remains the kind of place that draws people in, keeps them coming back, and builds the community Dale describes. www.uheightscenter.org/donate-26

Early giving is officially open for our All In for UHeights spring campaign, and we couldn't be more excited to kick things off with YOU.

UHeights has been a place in the U District where kids take their first steps toward learning, neighbors find their voice on stage, and community feels like more than just a word. We're raising $20,000 this spring to keep all of it going strong.

Ready to go All In? Give using the link below. And if you're not ready to give just yet, share this post to help us spread the word.

These photos are from September, and we know, we know. It feels like a lifetime ago! BUT, the connection you see in these moments isn't seasonal.

The band, the dancing, the volunteer handing a kids stickers, that all happened because our community had a shared space to show up to. And that space doesn't close when the clouds or cold weather roll in.

UHeights is here year-round, hosting neighbors, sharing resources, and keeping the thread of community strong through every season. So come find connection here, no 80° day needed.
