Black Community Impact Alliance

Black Community Impact Alliance The Black Community Impact Alliance (BCIA) is a group of cooperating organizations serving the Black Community in Western Washington.

The Black Community Impact Alliance (BCIA) makes sure that taxpayer-funded initiatives and organizations that receive government money to work in the Black community, are actually following through with work to better the lives of Black children and families. Our scope includes all elements impacting the well-being of the Black Community, such as: heath, education, jobs, housing, technology, safet

y, art, criminal justice, economic development and the environment. We strive to assist the Black Community in creating and owning their future by educating themselves on how to access and manage resources in health, education, workforce, business creation and housing. The BCIA’s Planning & Strategy Advisory Committee presently includes representatives from: the Village Spirit Center, Central Area Development Assocation, Gardner Global, olio design strategies, Hack the CD, Black Out WA, Africatown Central District Preservation and Development Coalition, Umoja PEACE Center, and Black Dot Underground.

🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of Transformative Impact: The Black Community Impact Alliance (BCIA) 🎉

The Black Community Impact Alliance (BCIA) is proud to celebrate its 10th Anniversary! As we reflect on this milestone, it’s essential to honor BCIA’s immense contributions to Seattle’s Black and ethnic communities.

Over the years, BCIA has played a pivotal role in:
✨ Securing millions of dollars for ethnic communities across Seattle through the City of Seattle’s Equitable Development Implementation (EDI) Fund.
✨ Being a key part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that led to the creation of the Liberty Bank Affordable Housing Project.
✨ Leading efforts to transform Fire Station 6 into the William Grose Cultural Innovation Center, bringing technology and entrepreneurship opportunities to the Black community in the Central District.

In 2014, four Black leaders—Former Representative Dawn Mason, George Staggers of CADA, Evelyn Thomas Allen of FAME-Equity Alliance of Washington, and K. Wyking Garrett of Africatown Community Land Trust—came together to fight against gentrification and displacement in Seattle’s historic Central District. This collaboration sparked a movement to advocate for resources and investments, creating a foundation for generational wealth.

BCIA was established through a $600,000, five-year grant from Catholic Community Services of Western Washington’s Village Spirit Center via the national Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

Today, BCIA stands as an intergenerational collective of Black leaders dedicated to advancing racial and economic justice for the past 10 years. 🌟
