We were thrilled to host Perkins & Will and objekts llc for a collaborative group volunteer event at the workshop last week. Objekts has volunteered with us before and continues to champion and support our mission, and this time they brought a partner who shares their values and vision!

The furniture they restored will be delivered to individuals and families who are starting over, moving into housing with little more than an empty room. By helping transform these pieces, both teams contributed to creating safe, functional, welcoming spaces for neighbors rebuilding their lives.

It’s a natural extension of the work they do in the built environment: designing places where people can live, work, and feel grounded.

We’re grateful to both companies for joining FRB and choosing to build community impact into their partnership!

Step into a fun and meaningful way to support your community by becoming an Outreach Volunteer with Furniture Repair Bank! 👋

This summer and fall, we’ll be out at major events across King County, sharing our mission of repair, reuse, and furnishing homes with dignity. Outreach volunteers help greet attendees, spark conversations, and introduce people to the impact FRB is making every day. If you enjoy connecting with others and want to help more neighbors discover FRB, this is a perfect fit.

No experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. We'll provide a short training session, clear talking points, and all the materials you’ll need to feel confident at the table. Shifts are only 2–3 hours, and you can sign up for the events that work best for your schedule.

We are looking for a part-time Occupational Safety & Project Coordination Lead to help build safer, more sustainable repair environments in our shop, AND across Washington.

This role supports a year-long project (July 2026–July 2027) focused on:

Huge gratitude to the Rotary Club of the University District, Seattle, for their incredible support of our organization.

Their generous donation has helped us build new sanding stations in our workshop, a major upgrade that improves efficiency, creates better workflow, and offers volunteers a more organized, skill‑building environment. These stations will allow us to restore furniture faster and more safely, ultimately helping more families create stable, comfortable homes.

This project is one small part of the workshop upgrades we have been implementing, thanks to the community support of our Blank Space to The Repair Place 2025 campaign. More improvements are in progress and will debut at an open-door event in June, so stay tuned!

Rotary members didn’t stop at funding the project! They also joined us on May 1st for a volunteer shift, rolling up their sleeves to help restore furniture for the neighbors we serve. Their energy, teamwork, and commitment to community made a real impact.

We’re grateful for partners who show up with both resources and heart. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community, one repaired piece at a time.

What does it look like when young people choose community over comfort and sandpaper over sandy beaches?

It looks like a team of Rollins College students spending their spring break in Seattle through the Immersion: Citizens Take Action program, a transformative experience where students learn about social issues by working directly with local nonprofits.

Last month, we were honored to host this team of motivated students for a hands‑on restoration shift at the Repair Bank workshop, where they helped rescue and repair furniture that will soon furnish the homes of families starting fresh.

Their commitment to learning, service, and community embodies everything we believe in. Thank you, Rollins College, for showing what “citizens taking action” truly means!
