Furniture Repair Bank Non-profit accepting used or damaged furniture donations to be refurbished by our teams of volunteers.

The restored furniture is then given to residents in need such as refugees and people emerging from homelessness through our partner organizations. Non-profit furniture donation and restoration serving King County, Washington, and surrounding areas.

Please share your thoughts on reuse, repair & share in our community! Your voice will help us create spaces in Seattle that truly benefit you ♻️🫶

Reuse Commons recently opened a pilot space in Lake City, and a location in South Seattle is in the works (planning phase). Your feedback will directly shape these spaces.

At a foundational level, Reuse Commons spaces are meant to create convenient community destinations for sustainable living through secondhand retail, repair services, classes, and shared resources.

Our survey takes about 10–15 minutes, and you may enter your email at the end for a chance to win one of six $25 gift cards.

Attention, FRB volunteers: your old cotton T‑shirts have a higher calling. We use 90%+ cotton tees as staining rags in the workshop, and we go through them faster than a toddler goes through snacks. If you’ve got shirts that are ripped, faded, or carrying memories you’d rather not explain, bring them in!

We’ll chop them up, dip them in stain, and send them off to help finish furniture for families in need. It’s recycling, upcycling, and community power all in one. Your laundry rejects = restoration magic. 👕

Moving or redecorating soon? Someone forgot to use a coaster? Bring us your side tables, water rings and all! 🥛

Side tables, accent tables, nightstands - whatever you want to call them, we need them. If they've seen better days, our team and volunteers will bring them back to like-new condition, and then they'll go to a new home where they are needed (and hopefully use coasters!)

Since our delivery truck was stolen, our community has shown up in the most incredible way: donating, sharing, cheering us on, and helping us cover the unexpected truck rental costs that keep our operations moving.

Because of you, furniture is still getting delivered into the homes where it’s needed most. Beds, dressers, tables, and more are all still rolling out the door thanks to your generosity and heart.

We’re humbled. We’re grateful. And we’re reminded (again!) that this community is unstoppable.

Furniture Repair Bank is growing, and we’re officially hiring! 🎉

If you’ve been around FRB for a while, you already know: when this community grows, it grows fast. One minute we’re fixing wobbly chairs, the next minute we’re moving to a bigger workshop, expanding our programs, and realizing we need more humans to help keep this sandpaper-fueled ship running smoothly.

So we’re adding two new roles to support our volunteer-powered mission:

• Volunteer Program Coordinator (Full-Time): for the person who loves people, systems, color‑coded calendars, and the thrill of watching a volunteer shift fill up in under 10 minutes.
• Woodshop Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time): for someone who enjoys sawdust, teaching others, and the magical moment when a scratched & damaged table becomes ready for a family dinner.

We’re reaching out to our FRB community first because, let’s be honest, you already get us. You know our quirks, our values, our love of repair, and our ability to turn a pile of mismatched furniture into a whole lot of dignity for families transitioning into stable housing.

If someone in your world would thrive here, or if you’ve secretly been waiting for your chance to level up from “volunteer who knows where everything is” to “coordinator who knows where everything is AND gets paid for it,” we’d love to hear from you.

Last week, we hosted our grand opening event, and it was such a remarkable experience. Folks visited from all over Seattle (and more!) to explore Reuse Commons Lake City, chat with our partners, and share with us about how a reuse, repair, and share hub could benefit them ♻️🫶

🚚💔 Our delivery truck was stolen this past weekend. Yes, the truck we use to bring essential furniture directly to families moving into stable housing.

But we’re not stopping.

For the next few weeks (or until we get a new truck), we’ll be renting U‑Hauls to keep deliveries going. That means unexpected costs hitting our limited budget at a time when demand for furniture is higher than ever.

FRB friends, we need your hands and your heart! 💚
Furniture Repair Bank is looking for volunteers to join us at our transfer station collection events, where we rescue good furniture before it hits the landfill and redirect it to families who need it.

These shifts are outdoors, surprisingly fun, and make an immediate impact. Every couch, table, or dresser you help divert from the landfill becomes part of someone’s fresh start.

We were thrilled to host Perkins & Will and objekts llc for a collaborative group volunteer event at the workshop last week. Objekts has volunteered with us before and continues to champion and support our mission, and this time they brought a partner who shares their values and vision!

The furniture they restored will be delivered to individuals and families who are starting over, moving into housing with little more than an empty room. By helping transform these pieces, both teams contributed to creating safe, functional, welcoming spaces for neighbors rebuilding their lives.

It’s a natural extension of the work they do in the built environment: designing places where people can live, work, and feel grounded.

We’re grateful to both companies for joining FRB and choosing to build community impact into their partnership!
