Hi, My name is Ricardo👋🏼

This program has been a very important experience, it is the first time that I have participated in something like this.

I learned to share ideas and public speaking. The message about the contamination of the Duwamish River and the work that is being done to combat it was very important to me.

Meet the team!

Hi👋🏼My name is Aymee, I go by she/her/ella pronouns.

I am an entrepreneur that likes to learn new things.

I joined the program because I felt like I needed to learn how to project more my emotions. My favorite part was the time we share our stories.

Meet the team!

Hi 👋🏼 my name is Chakriya, my pronouns are she/her. I am a healthcare professional working in the greater Seattle area and enjoy helping the community in that way. I enjoy the outdoors, passionate about animals, cooking, I love my family and friends, I write poetry and very interested in the arts, and very interested in knowing how I can help with the currently global crisis. That is why I joined Ignited Phoenix program.

I wanted to be apart of something that effects the current neighborhood I live in and helps bring awareness to environmental injustice.

My favorite thing about this program is that it not only brings realistic views on how the community is impacted but in a form of art which is also important to me. Being a part of this project has taught me a lot.

Thank you for being a part of the team Chakriya! 🥰 Happy to have you!

First day of filming and the group and I were all nervous, yet I was very impressed by our ability to have a conversation about the Environmental impacts in our communities, without any prior preperation. I think it shows that we are passionate and most importantly, that we care. I trust that this is only the beginning of something great that will have long lasting impacts❤️‍🔥

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Ignited Phoenix Program. My name is Jeraldi, and I am the Project Manager and Coordinator leading this project funded by the Environmental Justice Fund. I have been doing Environmental Justice work alongside great community organizers in the Duwamish Valley. I started in a program by the name of “Together, We Can Care For Our Duwamish River” as a program coordinator, working with youth from the Duwamish Valley to educate the hispanic community about the Duwamish River through Webinars on healthy fish consumption and more. Currently, I am serving as an Evironmental Justice Committee member for the City of Seattle and continue to advocate for our BIPOC voices to be included in Environmental Justice conversations.

I am thrilled to share our program with you all. This program is centered around healing the long-lived generational trauma of our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) communities. Through this program, we hope to showcase visibility for our communities of color. We want to achieve this through our six-week-long program, which we plan to document in order to do storytelling of our lived experience of oppression, which will elevate the voices of those most affected by injustice (BIPOC).
