Hello everyone, and welcome to the Ignited Phoenix Program. My name is Jeraldi, and I am the Project Manager and Coordinator leading this project funded by the Environmental Justice Fund. I have been doing Environmental Justice work alongside great community organizers in the Duwamish Valley. I started in a program by the name of “Together, We Can Care For Our Duwamish River” as a program coordinator, working with youth from the Duwamish Valley to educate the hispanic community about the Duwamish River through Webinars on healthy fish consumption and more. Currently, I am serving as an Evironmental Justice Committee member for the City of Seattle and continue to advocate for our BIPOC voices to be included in Environmental Justice conversations.
I am thrilled to share our program with you all. This program is centered around healing the long-lived generational trauma of our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) communities. Through this program, we hope to showcase visibility for our communities of color. We want to achieve this through our six-week-long program, which we plan to document in order to do storytelling of our lived experience of oppression, which will elevate the voices of those most affected by injustice (BIPOC).
