In the aftermath of the devastating Spokane Complex fires, Spokane City Council is considering an emergency tenant protections ordinance that would help renters facing financial hardship and housing instability because of a disaster.

For renters, a disaster doesn’t end when the flames are out. Families can face displacement, lost income, damaged homes, unexpected expenses, and the threat of eviction.

We need protections in place *before* the next emergency happens, not after.

Tras los devastadores incendios del Complejo de Spokane, el Concejo Municipal de Spokane está considerando una ordenanza de emergencia para proteger a lxs inquilinxs que enfrentan dificultades económicas e inestabilidad de vivienda como consecuencia de un desastre.

Para lxs inquilinxs, un desastre no termina cuando se apagan las llamas. Las familias pueden enfrentar desplazamiento, pérdida de ingresos, daños a sus hogares, gastos inesperados y el riesgo de desalojo.

Por eso necesitamos protecciones establecidas *antes de* que ocurra la próxima emergencia, no después.
