This Juneteenth, we recognize that the racial swim gap did not happen by accident. It is rooted in generations of unequal access to pools, swim instruction, and water safety education. The effects are still visible today.

But there is hope. Research shows that formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%.

By expanding access to swim lessons and water safety education, we can help ensure every child has the opportunity to learn lifesaving skills.

We have some HUGE news to share!! We’re thrilled to announce that Natasha Lloyd is stepping into the role of Executive Director at No More Under!!!💙

Since joining our team as Program Director in 2021, Tash has helped shape and grow our organization into what it is today. From expanding programs and leading the growth of the Swim Safely Series to building relationships with families and communities across the country, her leadership, passion, and unwavering commitment to our mission have left a lasting mark on No More Under.

Reflecting on her journey with No More Under, Tash shares:
“I’ve sat with parents on the bleachers, high-fived children on the pool deck, and worked alongside our team as we’ve expanded programs, solved challenges, and continuously improved our work. Those experiences have shaped how I think about leadership and the impact we can create together. I’m so very excited and honored to step into this opportunity.”

Tash’s dedication to water safety and expanding access to swim lessons and education has been at the heart of our work for years, and we’re excited to see that impact continue to grow under her leadership.

Please join us in congratulating Tash on this exciting next chapter. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead. 🌊

This episode of Dive Deep features Arkeisha, founder of the Team Kareem Memorial Foundation, a mission born from unimaginable loss of her son.

After losing Kareem to drowning, Arkeisha made it her mission to educate families on water safety before it’s too late. Today, Kareem’s light continues to guide every life she impacts through advocacy, education, and awareness.

Watch, listen, and help us continue these important conversations. 💙

A huge thank you to our partners: the Colorado State collegiate swimmers, A3, and Step Into Swim. Without your support, this wouldn’t be possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event so impactful. More conversations. More education. More lives saved!! 🩵

In this episode of Dive Deep, Tina Dessart from the US Water Safety Action Plan shares why this work is so critical and why the United States is falling behind when it comes to water safety initiatives and drowning prevention.

The reality is simple: prevention efforts need stronger support, funding, and national attention.

Creating safer communities around water takes all of us. One of the most impactful ways to support this work is by advocating for increased government funding and contacting your local representatives to prioritize water safety policies and education.

Check out https://watersafetyplan.us/ for resources and to learn more about the work being done and how you can help create change.

Together, we can turn awareness into action. 💙
