Meet Paulo!

At just 18 years old, he already has the knowledge and skills to put a new transmission in his friend’s car.

Hard work runs in his family. Everything he knows, he learned from his dad. Both men joined Thrive Tacoma in May of 2025, and together they are using their skills to rebuild their lives in America.

When Banenza joined Thrive’s program in January 2024, she was just beginning her new chapter in the U.S. After moving into Thrive Center Tacoma in September 2024, she began working toward her goals with support from our team.

Today, Banenza has achieved incredible milestones: a steady job, a driver’s license, a car, and insurance! We’re proud to walk alongside residents like Banenza as they build stability, and confidence in their new home.

Amelia and Chance arrived in the U.S. seeking asylum in April 2024. Struggling to find support in the Midwest, they moved to Washington and found Thrive Center Tacoma in August of this year. Within 24 hours our team helped them move into their new home, enroll their kids in school, and apply for jobs. Their story is an ode to resilience and determination. 🪷

This beautiful couple first arrived from the Kent encampment on September 24, 2024. Just one month later, they moved into their own home right down the street.

Then, this past August, they returned to Thrive Center Tacoma to say “I do.” 💍It's the 34th wedding we've had at the center!

Even after "graduating" our program, they continue to come back... staying connected, giving back, and inspiring others along their journey in America. We’re so honored to be part of their story.

These four met while making the dangerous journey through the Darién Gap on their way to America. Life took each of their families in different directions... but fate had other plans. A year and a half later, all four reunited at Thrive Center Tacoma.
