This infographic ranks popular pet cat breeds based on trainability, curiosity, adaptability, and problem-solving ability. While every cat has its own personality, some breeds are widely recognized for being more interactive, responsive, and mentally active than others.

The Abyssinian, Bengal, and Siamese are often considered among the most intelligent cat breeds. These cats are highly curious, energetic, and quick learners that enjoy puzzles, climbing, and interactive play. Siamese cats are especially known for strong communication skills and social behavior with humans.

Breeds in the high-intelligence category, such as the Maine C**n, Burmese, Savannah, and Oriental Shorthair, are also extremely trainable and adaptable. Many of them can learn commands, open doors, solve food puzzles, and form strong bonds with owners.

Cats ranked in the good and average categories still display strong instincts and learning ability but are usually calmer or less driven by constant stimulation. Breeds like the Ragdoll, British Shorthair, and American Shorthair are known more for relaxed temperaments and affectionate companionship.

The lower-ranked breeds in trainability, such as the Persian and Himalayan, are not unintelligent. They are generally more independent, laid-back, and less motivated by obedience-style learning compared to highly energetic breeds.

Unlike dogs, cat intelligence is often measured less by obedience and more by adaptability, memory, curiosity, hunting instinct, and independent problem-solving behavior.

As many times as we say thank you, know that it is never loud enough! Managing, judging and working a show are not the easiest and often most thankless jobs in the cat fancy. With that said,

We love our exhibitors and hope that everyone had as much fun on the magical Oregon coast in Seaside, Oregon as we did! Next year we plan to fully utilize our space since we had the entire building and take some time to work on not just the exhibitor
experience, but the visitor one as well.

Huge thank you’s to all of the board and club members that really stepped up to make our first and soon to be yearly show in Seaside, Oregon.

Thank you to Michele Lee, Dena Klocke, and Amanda Kilpatrick for showing up to help Nancy and Mike (Julie’s parents) set rings up while she put out last minute fires. Thank you Alysia Halpin for lending (and burning) your fingers to create our stunning rosettes.

Thank you to Diane Elliot and Sarah Mercer for the lovely decor! You ladies sure do set the bar high!

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Seaside Convention Center! You sure made us feel right at home and took time to take care of any needs that we had.

Thank you to Kay Hanvey for your mentorship and wisdom that was shared during a huge amount of comprehensive cat evaluations at the show! You volunteered to help with possibly shaping the future of someone’s program and we love you for that! ❤️

Thank you to all of our judging staff: Kitti Ruttan, Ellen Crockett, Laura Cunningham, Susanna Shon, Alex Chisholm, Toni Scarboro, Debbie Prince, and Mimi Fu! Thanks to Angela Ng and Sarah Ruttan for training with our judges. We were honored to have you and hope you will keep us in mind for future events!

Thank you to all of our wonderful vendors, Richard Katris our photographer and our esteemed rescue organizations: Clatsop Animal Assistance, and PLS Rescue. And thank you Maureen Clark for working vendors for us, ensuring that we took care of them as well as managing our gate for us!

Thank you to Peggy Smith and Ellyn Carmichael for working tirelessly to feed all of the judges and show committee and to house several of our visitors to save money on hotel fees.

Thanks to Bella Prince for helping me tame the crazy and keep the show on the road! It was our pleasure to help you on your journey to becoming a judge! Thank you to Patti Dailey for entry clerking and creating ring flats among 80 million other tasks! Thank you to Kim Reinbrecht for Master Clerking and for your generous donation. Thank you to Karen Fletcher our Treasurer Extraordinaire! Thanks to all of our clerks and stewards! Thank you to Tom Laney for helping paint the club’s cages to make us look our best! Thanks Ginger for helping with transportation.

Thank you Milorad for honoring us with your presence! The NW region was blessed to get to spend some time with you and hope you got some good shots to take back for the TICA social media. You are always welcome at any event that we throw.

If I unintentionally missed someone please feel free to give them a shout! I want everyone that had a part of the show to get the appreciation that is well deserved.

Lastly, know that we truly appreciated all of you coming to spend your Mother’s Day with us! Know that Sarah Mercer, Michele Lee, and Karen Fletcher planned an amazing bonfire that brought us all closer both in and out of the show hall! Thank you for planning that lovely event and I can’t wait to see how we continue to build on the new friendships made and old ones rekindled. We have June 19-20 2027 on the calendar again in Seaside and hope to truly start creating an event to remember that embodies TICA but also felines in general! We would love to hear ideas for how you think we could improve both the exhibitor and visitor experience!

From our inception as a club the idea has been to pave new trails in search of locations that not only make our shows an all encompassing location and show to remember, but also to steward the fancy, TICA, and felines in general. Know that we will be working hard behind the scenes to keep wowing you and I hope that you will continue to follow us on our journey and mission. We can’t wait to keep bringing new innovative, and out of the box things to keep bringing you and our visitors back !!

Until we meet again!
Julie
