Happy Cinco de Mayo! Enjoy this great post about this historic day by CPY that is enjoyed by many!🎉

Cinco de Mayo also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, is celebrated to honor the military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III.

On May 5, 1862, a poorly equipped mestizo and Zapotec force under the command of General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated French troops at the Battle of Puebla, southeast of Mexico City. Despite being outgunned and outnumbered, they successfully deterred the forces. It served as a rallying point for the rest of the conflict.

To truly celebrate this holiday via culinary means is to enjoy Mole Poblano. Mole Poblano originated in Puebla, where the battle against the French took place, and was often highlighted in the earliest celebrations!

Donate note books, pencils, pens, folders, backpacks, etc. to our children's back to school drive! All proceed will benefit the children at Ord Terrace Elementary school in Seaside. We will be at the grocery outlet parking lot in Seaside August 28th 10am-2pm
