🐝 Daily Beekeeping Tip

During hot summer inspections, try to keep hive boxes open for less than 10 minutes if possible. The longer a hive stays open in heat, the more the bees have to work to regulate temperature and protect brood.

A good habit:

Light smoker first
Have tools ready before opening
Inspect with a purpose
Close the hive back up smoothly

Calm, efficient inspections usually mean calmer bees and healthier brood.

🐝 Beekeeping Tip: On warm spring days, watch the front of your hives around midday. If you see large numbers of bees hanging outside (β€œbearding”), it may be a sign the colony needs more space. Adding a super before they get crowded can help reduce swarming.

Daily Beekeeping Tip 🐝
As temperatures rise, check your hives for swarm cells along the bottom edges of frames. Strong spring colonies can outgrow their space quickly. Adding another box a little early is usually better than a little late.
