Weekend Challenge

Scripture to carry into the weekend (from the early ministry of Jesus, as explored in The Life of Christ, 1):

“And a voice came out of the heavens: ‘You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.’” (Mark 1:11, NASB)

Jesus heard the Father’s affirmation at the very start of His public work. Before the crowds, the miracles, the opposition, and the cross, the Father declared His pleasure. That same Father still speaks identity and belonging over those who are in Christ.

This weekend, set aside time to read Mark 1:1–15 slowly (or the parallel passages in Matthew and Luke). Notice how Jesus begins His ministry—not with self-promotion, but with identification, obedience, and dependence on the Spirit.

Reflection questions:
1. Where in your own life do you most need to hear the Father’s “I am well-pleased” again?

2. How does Jesus’ willingness to identify with us in baptism reshape the way you view ordinary obedience this week?

3. What one step of quiet faithfulness can you take this weekend that mirrors the humility of Jesus at the Jordan?

God continues to open doors across the 23 languages of the Truth for Today work.

Recent progress includes the full Life of Christ, 1 & 2 now available online in Nepali (wordfornepal.com), with parallel sites serving Mandarin Chinese, Ukrainian, Hindi, Punjabi, and other languages. Printed materials continue to reach preachers and teachers in many of these same tongues, and new courses keep going live on our TTS site so students anywhere with internet access can study in their heart language.

Every translation, every download, every printed volume is another step toward the goal of making thorough, verse-by-verse Bible study available to the widest possible audience. The same commentary that strengthens English-speaking readers is now strengthening brothers and sisters in Nepal, Ukraine, India, China, and beyond.

When Jesus stepped into the Jordan to be baptized, He was identifying fully with the people He came to save. No sin of His own—yet He chose to stand with us. That same heart of identification continues today. Whatever burden or ordinary day you’re carrying, the One who entered the water still draws near.

He does not wait for us to clean ourselves up first. He meets us where we are and walks with us toward the life He offers. Take a quiet moment today to remember: the Savior who began His public ministry in humble obedience is the same Lord who walks with you through this mid-week stretch.

Before the disciples were asked to go, they were promised power.

Before they were sent, they were filled.

That order matters.

Jesus did not tell His disciples to change the world by relying on their own courage, wisdom, ability, or determination. He promised them the power of the Holy Spirit.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses…”
Acts 1:8

While miracles have ceased, the same God who called those first disciples is still at work in His people today. Jesus promised us His Spirit.

Whatever this new week holds, you do not have to face it alone. You do not have to manufacture the strength you need. You do not have to carry every responsibility in your own power. The Holy Spirit has been given to those who have obeyed the gospel.

So before you rush into the demands of the day, pause.

Receive His strength.
Receive His wisdom.
Receive His peace.
Receive His help.

Then go.

The calling may be bigger than your ability, but it is never bigger than God’s provision. (1 Cor. 10:13)

Begin this week not by asking, “What can I accomplish?” but by remembering, “Who is with me?” (Ps 23)

Walk into this week dependent on Him, empowered by His Spirit, and ready to be His witness wherever He sends you.

You are not going in your own strength when you go with God.

Weekend Challenge

When the Spirit Says “Go”

In Acts 16, Paul and his companions were “forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.” Then they tried to go into Bithynia, “but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.” Finally, through a vision, the Lord directed them to Macedonia (Acts 16:6-10).

Sometimes the most important guidance we receive is a closed door.

This weekend, sit with Acts 16:6-10 and ask:
Where might the Spirit currently be closing a door that I keep trying to push open?

Am I listening as carefully for the Spirit’s “no” as I am for His “yes”?

What new direction might God be preparing if I will release my preferred plans?

The early church learned that the Spirit’s leading is both precise and good. He still is with us Christians today.

Remember to like, follow, and share for others to benefit.

Other language teams keep translating, editing, and preparing new volumes so more people can carefully study the whole counsel of God in their heart language.

Every completed course, every printed book, and every new student enrollment is another step in the same story Luke recorded in Acts — the Word of God increasing and multiplying.
