From higher education to K-12 innovation, workforce readiness, technology, and student leadership, this session highlighted just how intentional our schools and institutions are in preparing the next generation for success.
Our day began at Harding University, where Dr. Jean-Noel Thompson, Executive Vice President, shared the importance of intentional community connection and the university’s role in strengthening Searcy’s future. We also heard from Anna Yingling with the Career Center for Excellence, followed by an outstanding presentation from Dr. Joe Faith on how AI is influencing businesses, complete with practical takeaways our class can apply immediately. The Harding visit wrapped up with a stop at the indoor training arena, one of the 10 largest in the United States, and a great conversation with Paul Simmons, General Manager of Harding Bison Football program.
The afternoon continued at Searcy Public Schools, where Dr. Bobby Hart welcomed the class and leaders Megan Churchwell, Katie Lawson, and Betsy Bailey shared how the district is advancing the 3E’s: Employment, Enrollment, and Enlistment. We were especially impressed by the Southwest Middle School YES Competition winners, who confidently showcased their business pitch skills, and the Alpha Junior High robotics team, whose demonstration reflected the creativity, teamwork, and competitive spirit being cultivated in our students. A meaningful presentation from Natalie Gosdin on the Special Services Circles Program added even more perspective on the incredible support systems in place for student success.
We then visited Arkansas State University-Beebe Searcy, where Dr. Jennifer Methvin shared valuable enrollment and program data before guiding the class through the many academic and workforce pathways available on campus. The day concluded with a visit from Riverview Superintendent Stan Stratton, who helped round out the broader picture of education’s role across White County.
👏 A heartfelt thank you to every educator, administrator, student, and institution who invested time in our Leadership Searcy class. Your willingness to open your doors, share your vision, and provide a new perspective on education in our area made this session incredibly impactful. The future of our community is brighter because of the work each of you is doing every day.
