Meals on Wheels - HOA Incorporated of Austin County Serving and delivering meals as an outreach to the Senior Citizens in our community. Daily operations are managed by an Executive Director.

HOA INCORPORATED OF AUSTIN COUNTY is the senior citizens project for Austin County. Originally established in 1974, HOA was a part of the County Library System and Provided only information, referral service and recreation to promote social interaction for seniors. As funds became available under the Older Americans Act, other services were added to the project. In 1976 the county transferred the

library van to the project for transportation services. Then, in 1982, a home delivered meals program was added, thus the name “Meals on Wheels” was applied. Finally, in 1985, HOA INCORPORATED OF AUSTIN COUNTY was formally chartered as a non-profit corporation in the State of Texas to operate under the tax exemption provisions of the Internal Revenue Service Code 501c(3). The chartered purposes of HOA INCORPORATED OF AUSTIN COUNTY are: “Endeavor to identify the unmet needs of the older adults in Austin County, and, by an orderly planning and implementing process to develop or improve access to needed services; to place an emphasis on these programs which can help prevent physical and psychological deterioration in order to extend independent living for as long as possible; to provide an information and referral system whereby information concerning available services is readily accessible to all throughout Austin County”. HOA-Meals on Wheels operates with a board of directors with individuals of diverse backgrounds which includes representatives from local and county governments, retirees and citizens at large. Annually, the board elects an executive committee which consists of a Chairman, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Delivery of meal service is made by many caring volunteers.
