Don't Play with Fire!!!
Matt has a BS in Environmental Science from Cal Poly Humbolt and an MS in Biology from Old Dominion University in Virginia.
moved to Oregon in 2017 and has worked as a Botanist for the Siuslaw National Forest's
Central Coast Ranger District since March of that year.
Matt is originally from Paradise, CA, which lost over 18,000 structures due to the "Camp Fire" of 2018. A oversight, dry conditions, and high winds further fueled the fire's destruction.
Using fire-resistant plants in Oregon coast landscaping can reduce wildfire risk while maintaining an attractive and functional yard. Matt will discuss fire-resistant plants and yard care.

It's that time of year again. Our September through June season begins next Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Meetings are 11:00am to 2:00pm. Programs begin at 11:00am with business meeting and lunch following.

Our program next week is "Don't Bug Me!!!" It will include identifying good bugs🐝🕷🦋 from the bad🐌 and pest management strategies. More program information coming soon. It is open to the public. We hope to see you there!

These are called “Cold Frame Boxes”.
Purpose is to protect young seedlings (if you’re not sure of winter weather is over) or to move plants like Geraniums (etc.) inside them protecting during winter. So they can stay a perennial instead of an annual.
I am using a window with a pull up screen (got it at Habitat for Humanity $12.00).
I am blessed to have a greenhouse (not large enough 🤭).. These can harden off spring seedlings… I love them… Neighbors are excited about them.
They can be watered through a wicking system .. That way you can start in winter / open in spring after the last frost .

I would love to thank all those who worked so hard on this years Plant sale!
It was a huge success!
And we couldn’t have gotten through the rainy weather and sold about 95% if it hadn’t been for our awesome customers!
The balance of these plants were given to the Joy garden and a few taken for propagation for next year !
Thank you again for a great Sale
