Established in June 2014, the Southern California Men's Collegiate Gymnastics Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding college gymnastics under NCAA rules in Southern California, and with that creating a new Team: Southern California United.(SC United)
Mission:
Provide Southern California College Gymnasts the opportunity to continue quality training and competition in a c
lub environment under NCAA rules. Vision:
Scott Barclay implemented a collegiate gymnastics club in conjunction with the ASU Recreational Program in Arizona to allow college gymnasts to train at a partnering facility. That program has proven successful with a team that is now 40 men strong and competing against other collegiate teams in the country. Southern California has over 50 colleges many of which once had a NCAA team, but these teams are no longer available today. It is the vision of this organization to build self-sustaining collegiate club programs throughout Southern California by using existing clubs as training facilities for these athletes. Since funding is important we have created a nonprofit corporation to support this effort through donations and fundraising. The first Club to share this vision and offer training facilities is Studio West Gymnastics in Torrance. Meetings with the recreational heads of colleges in Southern California are being scheduled to have multiple affiliations and clubs are encouraged to join and become a training facility. What is in it for the Club? The number of athletes in Men?s gymnastics is increasing and many clubs need great coaches; these college gymnasts could benefit clubs as future coaches. You are investing in your clubs future. Additionally, the donated use of the club?s facility is a tax deduction. If your club wants to become a training facility click here.
