SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!🔦🔦

Meet Chief Petty Officer Quan Vu. Chief Vu has 8 years of service in the program. He started as a league cadet with Chief’s Phung, Huynh, Phan, and Whiteman. Some of his most memorable moments in the program include going underway with the United States Coast Guard at CG Station Golden Gate, and running boats on the east coast. Chief Vu plans to enlist into the United States Navy as a corpsman and plans on pursuing a career in law enforcement afterwards. Chief Vu is currently assigned to our training ship.

SEA CADET SPOTLIGHT!!🔦🔦

Meet Chief Petty Officer Nehimiah Nguyen. Chief Nguyen has been apart of the program for 4 years. Throughout his 4 years, some of his best memories include getting trained by coast guard instructors and sailing with his friends. Chief Nguyen plans on attending college and continuing flight school in the process. Chief Nguyen plans to fly either as a civilian or a military pilot upon completion of college.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!🔦🔦

Meet Chief Petty Officer Kai Phan. Chief Phan has been with the unit for the past 8 years. He is currently assigned as one of the division chiefs to our training ship. Some of his best memories from the program include getting pinned with the same 3 shipmates he started the program with, scuba diving at Catalina island, and completing NSWOC (Seal) training. Chief Phan has also been offered acceptance to the United States Coast Guard Academy. He plans to attend the academy after graduating from high school and commission as a United States Coast Guard officer.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!!🔦🔦

Meet Chief Petty Officer Ethan Whiteman. Chief Whiteman has 6+ years of service in the program. He plans to enlist in to the United States Armed Services following his graduation from high school. Chief Whiteman also has an older sister who graduated from the program several years ago.

According to him,

“My favorite memory in the program was staffing RT hands down my favorite training and watching all of my shipmates grow in the program and through that week and helping them as much as I can, while also building strong relationships with my fellow staff cadets that I have till this day will forever hold 2023 Winter RT at SLO a special place in my heart.”

Chief Whiteman is currently 1 of 6 chiefs actively serving in our battalion.

Meet Chief Petty Officer Goten Huynh. Chief Huynh has 8+ years of service in the program. He just recently enlisted into the United States Navy reserves as an Aircrewman. Chief Huynh is also 1 of 2 NSWOC graduates currently actively serving in the battalion. Some of his best memories from the program include NSWOC, and running boats on the east coast. Chief Huynh plans on commissioning into the Navy as a Pilot upon completion of his degree.

Meet our very own Battalion Commander, Chief Petty Officer Clark Phung. Chief phung has 8+ years of service in the program. He plans to attend UCSD starting next fall and serve his country in the United States Coast Guard upon completion of his degree. Some of his best memories include training with his best friends on how to run boats over on the east coast. Chief Phung has also been one of the few to be selected to represent the United States on an International Exchange program to Canada last summer.

For the past year and a half chief petty officer Andrew Green has served as the battalion commander for both Seal Beach Battalion and T.S Sealion, recently CPO Green had graduated from high school and we wanted to wish him fair winds and following seas in all his endeavors!!

““After being in the program for six years, I feel confident in my ability to handle all my future endeavors. The sea cadets gave me numerous skills that I can apply way beyond the program and opportunities that I thought were never possible. I will be going to UCLA this fall with a major in political science to eventually study law, and I will continue to utilize all that this program has given me.”- CPO Andrew Green.
