Read this email below and call your representatives! Thank you.
Dear Natalie,
Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC) is facing serious budget threats that could significantly impact the lives of thousands of individuals and families we serve every day.
Today, there is a proposed Budget Reconciliation Bill in Congress that is proposing $230 billion dollars in cuts to essential safety net programs—SNAP (CalFresh), school meal programs, and Medicaid (Medi-Cal). If enacted, these cuts will restrict access to food, health care, and basic resources for the most vulnerable members of our community.
Simultaneously, at the state level, the CalFood program—a critical source of funding that allows food banks to purchase California-grown produce, protein, and culturally relevant pantry items—is facing a devastating 90% cut. This funding helped food banks like ours during the pandemic and continues to be vital as need surges.
If passed, these cuts will significantly reduce our capacity to serve the community—and, more importantly, make it much harder for vulnerable individuals and families to access essential resources like food, and medication.
That’s why we’re reaching out today. We need your voice.
We urge you to contact your representatives and advocate for the protection of these vital safety net programs:

As our name suggests, community is at the heart of everything we do. Now more than ever, we need your support to ensure our mission continues.
These proposed cuts will impact all of us—increasing household budgets, restricting access, and widening disparities across Orange County. Whether you’re a neighbor, a corporate partner, or a dedicated volunteer, your action today can help safeguard the well-being of thousands.
Let’s stand together. Let’s create lasting impact—together.
With gratitude,
Gregory C. Scott
