⚠️ Governor Matt Meyer has declared a statewide drought watch due to ongoing dry conditions. We’re asking Delawareans to voluntarily reduce nonessential water use. Limit lawn watering and use non-drinkable water on lawns and turf fields when possible.

This statistic represents families forever changed, neighborhoods in mourning, and a cycle of trauma that demands our collective action.

This month, we are supporting the movement all month long because awareness is the first step toward intervention. We believe that gun violence is a preventable public health epidemic, and our mission is to break that cycle through coordinated, evidence-based programs and sustained community investment.

Happy Pride Month! 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍🤎

Every year, someone asks why Pride is still necessary.

The answer is simple:

Pride is important because not everyone is safe being themselves.

Pride is important because some LGBTQ+ people still face rejection, isolation, discrimination, and fear because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Pride is important because a young person may be searching for hope, a parent may be learning how to support their child, and someone may be hearing words of acceptance for the very first time.

Until every LGBTQ+ person can live as their true self without hesitation or fear …

Pride is important. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Peace Pals will be celebrating our nation's 250th birthday in our summer mini camp, Peace is Patriotic. We will look back to learn about the Nanticoke peoples who lived along the Nanticoke watershed for centuries before Europeans arrived here seeking a better life, much like our immigrant families today. We will emphasize the nonviolent resistance during colonial times that led up to the Declaration of Independence. We will remember that enslaved people cleared our nation's capital and built the Capitol and White House, and their many other contributions and struggles over the past 250 years and more. We will sing songs of the Civil Rights era, make drums from found items like our ancestors did, do lots of red, white and blue crafts with plenty of glitter, and be introduced to local nonviolence hero Bryan Allan Stevenson of the Equal Justice Initiative.
Have a story or artifact to share? Peace Pals would love to hear from you!

In the years leading up to the American Revolution, the colonists conducted a massive nonviolent struggle that achieved de facto independence from the British.
