Meet Ethan* (name changed for privacy)! He just turned 13, and although he has only recently entered his teenage years, he has already endured so much in his young life.
Ethan’s biological mother abandoned him shortly after birth, and he was raised by his maternal grandparents until the age of 10. Unfortunately, they lived in extremely poor conditions and were unable to provide a suitable environment or meet Ethan’s needs. He was removed from their care in October 2023 after the school reported that he was not attending classes.
At that time, Ethan spoke only his mother’s native language, but over the past two years, he has learned another language and now speaks it fluently.
Ethan understands what adoption means. He has seen other children from his group home be adopted, and he dreams of experiencing what it means to be chosen, wanted, loved, and accepted. He often asks the manager of his group home why an adoptive family hasn’t come for him and whether he will ever be chosen like the other children.
Ethan very much wants to be adopted and is more than ready to learn his future adoptive parents’ language and become part of a family.
