NEPA Gives is upon us! Please help support Here 4A Reason beginning tomorrow at 7:00 PM through Friday at 7:00 PM. When you give during that 24 hour period you make us eligible for additional awards that can more than double your own donation! On February 14 💓 members from the Junior League of Scranton attended the NEPA Gives Kick-off event at the Hilton in downtown Scranton. is a high impact fundraising event sponsored by the and neighboring community foundations to support nonprofits in beautiful Northeastern Pennsylvania. This year’s NEPA Gives 2023 will be held for 24-hours on June 1st and 2nd to engage fundraising across Northeast PA. As an organization that focuses on serving and empowering women and families in the Greater Scranton community, we are thrilled to once again be a part of this event. While attending February 14th’s kick-off, we learned about the exciting changes planned for this year’s NEPA Gives Event and how to leverage them in this year’s fundraising.

Feeding Hope, One Meal At A Time.

Here For A Reason began when a group of passionate individuals started wondering how we might meet the foundational needs in our community. We realized that food insecurity was one of the biggest issues for children in our country, and even more so in Scranton and the surrounding areas. When children are hungry, they can't think about school, education, or their future. Their needs are very present and affects every moment.

In Scranton, the need is so great that every child in the school district gets a free breakfast and a free lunch. But, on weekends many go hungry. Here For A Reason is able to provide a meal for the children to take home to their whole families on the weekends so that they will know that they won't go hungry when they aren't in school. We currently work with half of the elementary schools in the city in which 85% of the students fall at or below poverty level. We give over 4,000 meals a month, providing nutrition, comfort, and hope to the children in city.
