Glad to be a part of the Greater Scottsville Litter Cleanup, March 2026. Tales of roadside tidiness, from both sides of the James River bridge, picking up litter in Buckingham County, and my neighborhood Paulette Town, by Holly, Hardware, Blenheim, Albevanna Springs and James River Rd.
Earlier this month, venturing into Esmont, working w/ the fine Yancey folks and cleaning up on Porters and Esmont roads.

Old abandoned house back in the woods. One of the homesteads before the land became a park. Another, up on the ridge, is all gone but the stone chimney.

Check out our inaugural July 4th parade float! Great day, hot day in 2023, with a fantastic volunteer crew bringing up the rear of the parade, tidying, street cleaning, picking up litter along the parade route. Hope to be back at it in 2024!

Sciencing the sh*t out of air conditioning.
"When Shen et al. measured the performance of their colored films under sunlight, they found that the films were nearly 40° F cooler than the surrounding air and that a square meter of film generated some 120 watts of cooling power—comparable to an average home A/C unit."

Celebrate with me! It's been 20 years of roadside tidying volunteering with VDOT's Adopt-a-highway program.
I've worn out two pairs of muck boots, 3 grabbers and countless gloves. I've still got the orange jumpsuit! Had to get a new orange hat after the fire.
In 2002, I could collect 10 to 13 bags in one day, now it's about 3 to 5 bags. And I've branched out, wandering off Rt. 20 onto the rural roads in walking distance of my home, because there's trash there, too!
Keep up the waves and honks -- the encouragement is always appreciated. Happy Earth Day folks!

Fall clean-up happened! The Love Albemarle roadside trash pick up campaign in southern Albemarle was today, Saturday, October 30th. Great neighbors with orange vests, gloves and grabbers cleaned up Irish Road, thanks all!

Spring Clean up! Warm, sunny day to be grabbing and bagging trash on Route 20, challenging after recent rain and with blustery winds. 5 bags collected, yet always more to be done.
