Getting too attached to a child who will most likely leave means living in tension.

It means freely releasing your heart— where you love and feel and connect—but holding the reins on your mind—where you plan and hope and daydream.

Foster parent, how do you balance the impossible tension of loving a child like they’re your own when they’re not? You keep a strong hold on your thoughts, a close leash on your worries. You keep your mind sealed up tight.

But you don’t ever close your heart. You keep that wide open.

Absolutely!!

When people assume I can do this & not get ‘too attached’, they are wrong. But my answer to them is always the same—what’s worse? My heart breaking because I am ‘too attached’ to a child that may leave, or no one ever getting ‘too attached’ to that child?

One Simple Wish is a great charity that hooks kids up! You can donate to help with little wishes, Big wishes or just pitch in!

We want to thank everyone for their want and willingness to drop off donations! Thank you all so much! However, we are needing to close to physical donations this week, due to both of our families having come down with some illnesses & issues. Please don't forget we always accept monetary donations on our venmo, PayPal and the fundraiser on Facebook.

*Not Covid related, however, we have felt better and need to take at least this week off from being at the closet so we can hopefully feel better soon enough.
