Scottsmoor Community Association

The Scottsmoor Community Association is a group of friends and neighbors in Scottsmoor and the surrounding area dedicated to “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

The Scottsmoor Community Organization was formed on 3-2-1965 and renamed "Scottsmoor Community Association" on 5-17-2007 when it became a Florida Non-Profit Corporation. The Executive Board is as Follows:

We serve the community of Scottsmoor with a food pantry every Monday night, open to all in need. We run a children's community closet exchange program where gently used children's clothing and shoes are donated and then distributed to those in need via quarterly events at our meeting hall. We hold several events a year. An annual 4th of July picnic, Community Festival of Lights, Annual Scottsmoor Christmas Dinner and semi-annual Community bake sale/rummage sale are just a few of our yearly events. This year we donated roughly $300 worth of school supplies for Pinewood Elementary school, and plan to make this another yearly event. Our monthly meetings usually occur the 4th Monday of each month. A free meal is provided at 6 pm with the meeting beginning at 7pm. Our meetings include guest speakers, updates on Northern Brevard Park and Recreations, updates on Mims Community issues and various other information that may impact Scottsmoor and it's residents.

The Scottsmoor Community Organization was formed on 3-2-1965 and renamed "Scottsmoor Community Association" on 5-17-2007 when it became a Florida Non-Profit Corporation. Scottsmoor Community Association is a 501c3 charitable organization. We are current with all our nonprofit, charitable, tax and solicitation certification filings. Our mission statement is: Neighbors helping Neighbors! We provide many community events throughout the year: 4th of July Picnic, Halloween Costume Parade andChristmas Parade/Party. We provide up to $1000.00 per year in school supplies to Pinewood Elementary School, donations to “Wreaths Across America” at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery and provide various help/funds for food distribution to those in need in Scottsmoor.

Our home is Scottsmoor Meeting Hall. Membership rental rates for the hall are as follows. $80.00/full day, $40.00 per half day or $20.00 per hour. Non membership rates are double plus you must hire a member at $15.00/hr to stay on site to oversee the rental. So, becoming a member will pay for itself with a half day hall rental. Membership is $10.00/year

Beyond our yearly events we also provide after disaster relief resources. Following Hurricane Mathew and Irma we served food and water. We provided help for generators. We provided water for toilets. We provided a cool place to sit during the day. We provided showers for many days to many residents. And, we provided valuable information to those in need.

As our community changes so must we. It is up to us to fill the needs of the community. But we can not do that without the help of the community as a whole. We need to know what the needs are and how we can address them. In the past 2 years we put our support behind the new Mims-Scottsmoor Library. We sent letters and emails to public officials to address directional signs to Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Hwy 95. And, we sent emails and letters to county officials requesting a bus stop in Scottsmoor.

Our monthly meetings usually occur the 4th Monday of each month. A free potluck meal is provided at 6 pm with the meeting beginning at 7pm. Our meetings include guest speakers, updates on Northern Brevard Park and Recreations, updates on Mims Community issues and various other information that may impact Scottsmoor and it's residence.

Our most current fund raiser is Bingo. We hold bingo each Friday night. Early bird starts at 6pm and regular session begins at 6:30 pm. Our payout is based on attendance. We play paper packs. We verify winners with a computer. We use a blower and a camera to show all balls. We do not use hard cards. Admission pack cost approximately $1.00/game. As more people frequent our bingo we will add games to compensate.

Members decide what events and services we can provide to the community. Please become a member! Help shape the future events in Scottsmoor and provide a great atmosphere for our children to grow, our family’s to play, our wildlife to flourish and our elderly to retire. Scottsmoor belongs to you! If you want community building events like a movie night or a fun night we must do it. But we need members and volunteers to provide these events. We do not receive county funds to provide events here. We must do it!

Again, membership is $10.00/yr. our membership form can be found on scottsmoor.org. Become a member and provide your email. You will be put on an email list to receive valuable information and updates about Scottsmoor. If you only receive our emails your $10.00 is well spent.
