As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, we have even more to be thankful and grateful for this year. I pray we have a new clarity and a new depth of thankfulness for this life we have been graciously given.
The past few months, I have been working with our students in Caracolie. One activity we did together was a color sheet where I asked them to write down a few things they were thankful for. They wrote they were thankful that God gave them life, thankful that God blessed them with a good life, thankful for food every day, thankful for water to drink, thankful for being able to live with both of their parents, and thankful for God blessing them with an education. The “good life” response got me every time. See, I live alongside these children, I know what their homes look like, I know what they eat or don’t eat almost every day, I know where they sleep at night and for the majority of them, it’s not in a bed, I know how hard their parents work to provide basic, BASIC provision for their families with less than $2/day wage, and I know how hard some parents search for consistent work and never find it. I see struggle, pain, injustice, poverty, homelessness, sickness, illiteracy and also God's provision, love, and redemption.
At the beginning of the school year, due to the Coronavirus, we lost several student sponsorships. Also, upon our return to Haiti in August, we came back to a 48% drop in the exchange rate, cutting our ministry budget in half. The additional funds needed each month to continue paying our staff and feeding our 200+ students has been a constant matter of prayer. This month we will be shining a light on what God is doing in the lives of some of our students through Caracolie Christian School. On , December 1st, you will have the opportunity to join us in continuing to provide a Christian education to the least of these!
Thank you for believing they are worth it and for seeing their God-given potential.
