Today, on International Day of Older Persons, we honor the elders who carry our stories, preserve our histories, and pass down wisdom that continues to shape generations.

Observed annually on October 1, this United Nations day recognizes the invaluable contributions of older persons and affirms the importance of their dignity, well-being, rights, and continued place at the heart of our families and communities.

Dr. Maya Angelou understood the importance of listening to those who came before us and carrying their lessons forward. Our elders are more than witnesses to history; they are storytellers, teachers, memory keepers, and bridges between generations.

Today, we celebrate them and encourage each of us to listen, ask questions, and make space for their stories, experiences, and wisdom.
