What does everyone want to see when WPR gets back in action?
What do you miss?
What is missing within the program?
How does WPR improve?

We are working on new formation and new alliances and whats important is to hear from the riders and supporters to make sure this is worth the efforts.
Speak up!

Message from WPR

World Para Reining would like to take a moment to thank the equine community for its support of this incredibly important program. And we want to let you know while we have slowed some of our programs during and post covid, we are still here and driving towards a better and more inclusive sport.

WPR was the first. We pioneered new ground introducing Para Reining in 2014 with the first ever Reining event, which we brought to the NRHA Derby. From there we saw major Championships at the AQHA World Show, the High Roller Classic as well as many other major Reining events in the US.
Beyond that WPR stayed true to its origins of inclusivity and name by bringing the opportunities to Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada and South America to name a few. We have held major Championship events within Europe and have seen growth we never expected.

This all started with a few dedicated riders who knew they could break boundaries. They were brave enough to spend hours testing new ideas, patterns and rules. The hard work was done on the backs of horses in arenas. It was then brought to the World to allow new opportunities and showcase what a Reining horse is capable of in its level of training and adaptability. The load of gratitude WPR feels is not only to the fearless riders but also to the incredible horses. Those horses defied odds and proved they were capable of greatness beyond winning awards, they changed lives.

Over the years we have watched the growth within the NRHA as well as many associations worldwide. Namely the recent World Reining event in Switzerland.
The WPR program has been utilized in online programs and multiple breed and open show levels. We allow this program anywhere it is applied for. Our mission is simple, inclusion to all riders who want to show a Reining horse. We do not say no.

While we have slowed with our own top ten and major event program we remain steadfast in our commitment to the program we built. We will continue to allow all to utilize this program that was bullt by very brave riders testing and carving the path for others to succeed.
WPR wants to thank World Reining for taking the program and allowing a new and great opportunity for riders. We also want to thank the NRHA and AQHA for building programs and creating opportunities.
To all the riders, keep it up!!! WPR is yours. We want to contine to see you in arenas around the world proving this sport and inspiring us all!

With much gratitude,
Lisa Coulter
WPR Founder and President

Great job Reining Australia!!! impressive news...

Para Reining is one component of our amazing sport that continues to grow and this is easily evidenced by the fact that Para Reining classes at 4 of the major shows in 2022, were won by 4 different horse and rider combinations.
** ARBC - Bruce Tucker & Gunners Da Vinci Code
** PCRS - Vicki Walters & ME Texas Red
** NSW State Show - Marlene Holahan & Freedom Patti Brown
** RA Nationals - Joslyn Dale & Hollywood Bar Chic

Reining Australia is committed to not only the growth and development of Para Reining in this country, but to also continue to support all of our talented Para Athletes.
To this end, the Board of Directors for Reining Australia are currently in the final approval stages of a brand new Para Reining policy.
This policy has been developed with direct input from Australian based Para Athletes along with other industry professionals that have a National & International involvement in Para Sport.
Once endorsed, this new policy will provide the framework and direction for Para Reining to not only continue to grow but flourish.

Thank you all for the comments, likes, shares, and messages about our exciting news of our new (inclusive!) grading system.

This photo was taken in 2015 at one of the first shows to welcome WPR riders (AQHA Sun Circuit). A lot has changed since then...but WPR remains committed to the riders, who in turn help shape us as an organization.

If you are excited about the future of World Para Reining, we invite you to partner with us by becoming a member! An associate membership is just $25. Every dollar goes directly back into our programs/show prizes. Your membership will also help us demonstrate to sponsors and donors that we have a strong base of support and folks who believe in what we do.

Link to our online membership form is in the comments!

PD: four para reiners in matching shirts are riding their horses away from the camera. The WPR logo of a horse in a sliding stop is on the back of their shirts.

2022 is HERE!!! With the new year, comes BIG NEWS!!! Until now, "Para-Equestrian" sport, as defined by the FEI, has been open to riders with visual or measurable physical "Impairments." This has been very limiting to riders of all disciplines, and WPR continues to strive for growth and CHANGE!! In 2022, WPR is moving forward to create TRUE INCLUSIVITY for ALL RIDERS! In 2022, WPR is proud to announce the creation of Grade 5, which will open the "Para-Equestrian" model to riders regardless of ANY ability or disability! Grade 5 will create competitive opportunities for ANY rider, who historically, may not have been accepted or allowed under the existing definition of "Para." Riders who may have been unclassifiable on a Physical Therapy mat, now have a place to compete with EQUALITY! Riders classified in Grade 5 will be allowed use of assistive-devices not allowed in traditional WPR grades 1-4. Examples would include headsets for communication with coaches in competition, and lead-line with ground assist to allow safe and successful completion of patterns, etc.. Riders in Grade 5 will compete against other Grade 5 riders, but will ride patterns appropriate to their level of physical ability. This will allow individuals who may require assistance beyond traditional "para," an opportunity to be competitive and successful in both local and international stages! WPR is excited to see the opportunities that Grade 5 will create for Riders all around the world!!! With CHANGE, comes GROWTH... With GROWTH, comes POWER! IT'S TIME TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
