2022 is HERE!!! With the new year, comes BIG NEWS!!! Until now, "Para-Equestrian" sport, as defined by the FEI, has been open to riders with visual or measurable physical "Impairments." This has been very limiting to riders of all disciplines, and WPR continues to strive for growth and CHANGE!! In 2022, WPR is moving forward to create TRUE INCLUSIVITY for ALL RIDERS! In 2022, WPR is proud to announce the creation of Grade 5, which will open the "Para-Equestrian" model to riders regardless of ANY ability or disability! Grade 5 will create competitive opportunities for ANY rider, who historically, may not have been accepted or allowed under the existing definition of "Para." Riders who may have been unclassifiable on a Physical Therapy mat, now have a place to compete with EQUALITY! Riders classified in Grade 5 will be allowed use of assistive-devices not allowed in traditional WPR grades 1-4. Examples would include headsets for communication with coaches in competition, and lead-line with ground assist to allow safe and successful completion of patterns, etc.. Riders in Grade 5 will compete against other Grade 5 riders, but will ride patterns appropriate to their level of physical ability. This will allow individuals who may require assistance beyond traditional "para," an opportunity to be competitive and successful in both local and international stages! WPR is excited to see the opportunities that Grade 5 will create for Riders all around the world!!! With CHANGE, comes GROWTH... With GROWTH, comes POWER! IT'S TIME TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
