After 6.3 miles, Nick got on one knee 💍🩵

You imagine this moment. You may even set expectations of this moment. But it’s not this moment that defines your love. It’s not this moment that made me say yes.
It’s your discipline.
It’s the love I see you pour into helping others.
It’s the genuine “I love you” you tell your friends.
It’s the encouragement you give me to grow.
It’s the companionship we have.
It’s the way you make me laugh when I’m crying.
It’s the way you make me cry when I’m laughing.
It’s when you held me in your arms after my father died telling me, “Everything is going to be okay. Everything is going to be alright.”

I said yes because it’s always been yes.

I definitely licked my finger to get that ring on😂 hiking fingers = swollen fingers. She fits now 🤍

Nick Baker is a Bostonian who lost his full ride scholarship to play football after falling into prescription medication. Nick came to Arizona for treatment and never left. He found his purpose by staying busy and staying connected. “Service is where salvation lies.” Nick now works with the Aris Foundation, which feeds the homeless and provides other wonderful services to those in need. Through service, Nick learned to “love them where they’re at.”

What’s your sign say:

Walking into the gym this morning I noticed an elderly homeless man making his sign to fly for the day. For the unaware, this means he was writing down his heart, his wants and his needs on a piece of cardboard in an attempt to get some help today while standing on your local street corner. I got to thinking on HMMMM. What’s my sign say? I know when I first got sober a little over 4 years ago it must’ve said love me or even better give me someone to love. I wonder what this world would be like if we all had to fly a sign every day. A world where we could acknowledge another’s desperate call for love no matter how good their external material life may look. A world where we can express our hearts desire or basic needs and acknowledge another’s. I feel today the same way I felt getting sober sometime ago. In the words of the great Freddie Mercury I believe my sign has always said God:

Send Me Somebody To Love.
