Nph Please bear with me as I am just starting this organization. I would appreciate any constructive input you care to give. Thanks, Sherry Hickman...

The NETWORK is just beginning and our most immediate objective is to set up social activities in order to help adults with special needs make friends. These events will be open to all, but we especially want to assist those who have, in the past, found it difficult to make friends or those who may require support to reap the benefits associated with being part of a social organization. Everyone t

hat is interested will be asked to complete an interest inventory so that we can better plan for future events. Support will be given for general inexperience, lack of social skills or, social anxiety. Folks who experience Behavioral challenges will be individually assessed with most being able to be integrated into the larger group. For those who want to be involved but are hesitant because they lack actual experience in the activities offered, skills will be taught and there will be assistance given as needed. prompting will be faded as competence and independence are achieved. For those who want to be involved but feel they would not enjoy the activities offered, more will be added to the schedule as interests are made known and staffing is available. Currently, we have a very limited number of events/activities but, as our enrollment grows, so will our schedule. In the future, we are hopeful that we will be able to offer an assortment of activities that will cross most of the domains of daily living. So, if you are an adult with special needs (or know someone who is), we at ARIZONA FRIENDSHIP NETWORK hope you will join us as we start our group -- Supporting happiness and independence are what we’re all about.
