In honor of MLK day we donated to the and . The Equal Justice Initiative work includes challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society. The NAACP Empowerment Program works to build inclusive criminal justice policies, healthcare systems, economies, and classrooms.

Marked a milestone with my foundation's second annual board meeting, where we dove into future projects and assessed our impact to date. Grateful for the new relationships and collaborations that will help us make a difference in the world. Excited to welcome Aubrey Rhoden and my nephew Ryan to the board! Also honored to host Francis and Jack, learning about the amazing work Francis is doing in Cameroon and hoping to visit his country soon! Having experienced domestic violence myself, this issue is close to my heart. When I was 19, I didn't have access to the same resources that exist today. The cycle of abuse is suffocating, with isolation, threats, and a constant sense of unease. I'm grateful that help is now available, and PJR Family Foundation is committed to supporting these efforts. Also proud to support and with their to have 25% of domestic violence shelters accept animals, since many victims are hesitant to leave because they’re afraid of leaving their animals behind.

In honor of , and being a survivor of it myself, the foundation is honored to help support the fight for early detection as well as treatment. Early detection is crucial to avoid invasive surgeries and chemo or radiation treatments. There are many options for free screenings and I urge everyone to not only get a mammogram, but also find out whether you have dense breast tissue which normal mammograms don’t always catch. Family history doesn’t always mean you will or won’t big diagnosed, so genetic testing is also encouraged.

The foundation was happy to donate to the National Breast Cancer Foundation , mobile mammography from the Marshfield Clinic in Northern Wisconsin, and .

Last Friday, myself and my board member Amy were given the chance to tour Canopy Center to see all the amazing programs they offer. The work they do is life changing and the children and families they help will be forever changed because of the dedication of this amazing organization and its volunteers and employees. Their program Oasis Mental Health Clinic provides support for Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse, Caregivers of Children Who Have Experienced Sexual Abuse, and Teen Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse and Trafficking among other services. They work with CASA of Dane and Columbia County and Parent to Child provides supervised visitation on evenings and weekends for the Dane County Department of Human Services. They also work with Domestic Abuse Intervention Services of Dane County.

The foundation was proud to present them with a check to continue this amazing work and plans to form a long-standing relationship in the future so this organization can continue to grow and help more children and families for years to come.
