At 3:40pm yesterday, Mountain Time, I received a text message that said, "Victory for Amanda". It was from a close friend. I had asked several persons to text me if they heard any news re: Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito. It wasn't until later that I was able to check the media...the area papers here were disappointing on the coverage of this huge event, but the Wall Street Journal had front page mention of the case as did the New York Times and USA Today and the story on the reversal of Amanda's and Raffaele's criminal convictions. So...I first want to Congratulate Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito for standing up for their collective innocence over 8 long years of trials, delays, disappointments, frustrations, humiliations, grief over losing roommate Meredith Kercher, and the countless interviews and media attention everyone in this case has had to go through. I decided to start this page for these innocent co-defendants because from June 2011 I realized they were both innocent. I had come to the case quite late. I first profiled Amanda inside her own family and realized she would never kill a woman, then I began to study the case evidence itself. This showed me that Amanda was not at home the night of the attack on Meredith and that Raffaele was also uninvolved in this crime. I also later realized the prosecution had the wrong murder weapon taken from Raffaele's kitchen drawer (at random no less). My early genealogical research on the Knox family indicated that Curt Knox comes out of the McFarland clan in Scotland (McFarling is the earlier spelling down through history) and that my great grandmother's maiden name was Elizabeth McFarland. As for the future, I will keep this site up as a Tribute to their innocence so that their plight is not forgotten.
Personal Message to Amanda and Raffaele on March 28, 2015:
First, a huge congratulations on your victory re: yesterdays decision by the Supreme Court of Italy to over-turn your convictions in the death of Meredith Kercher. I realize you lost both a friend and roommate who you knew for only a short time. The news came to me here late, it was at 11:40pm Rome time that I learned of your 2nd Acquittal(s). I want to thank both of you for staying strong in the face of incredible odds and adversity over these many grueling years of persecution, trials, and testing. I am hoping that sometime in the future the Kerchers will also realize that you both had "no involvement" in this crime and that some kind of permanent reconciliation can be made with Meredith's family. I also want to thank your respective families for their great support over the years and to the countless other persons and supporters who have helped around the entire world. I also want to thank Elizabeth Vargas of ABC for working on this story for so many years and Deanna Knox for being such a nice sister to Amanda and Edda and Curt Knox for their incredible defense of their daughter. The Knox family has shown the world what it is to be a great American family throughout this ordeal as has Raffaele's family. I also want to thank Raffaele's family and attorneys for being such wonderful support to him as well during this ordeal. I want to thank Amanda's Italian attorneys and paralegals for working on this case so hard until it was finally resolved and I also want to thank Philadelphia attorney, Theodore Simon, for his excellent work on this case and defense of Amanda Knox. And we cannot forget to thank Madison Paxton for moving to Italy to be with and support her friend Amanda and also Chris Mellas as well during her time in prison -- for a crime she did not commit. I also want to thank former FBI agent Steve Moore and the various independent forensic examiners who have worked on this case to defend Amanda and Raffaele in their innocence.
They never should have been arrested in the first place.
Perhaps God has allowed this case to happen because He is preparing a huge role for both of them to influence the world. Despite the obstacles they both faced I think what they both will accomplish in their lifetimes will be incredible and significant. I am looking forward to their healing but also know as Edda and Cut have said that "our family is changed forever." It is a lot to absorb as Amanda said in her short press conference on the night of March 27th.
Thanks to the Supreme Court of Italy for finally arriving at the truth of this long case in reversing the criminal convictions of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito on March 27, 2015.
Thank you retired Italian Judge Hellmann for Acquitting Amanda and Raffaele on Oct. 3, 2011 which allowed them to be set free and allowed Amanda to return to her family in Seattle, Washington at that time. You had the courage to speak the truth and stand up for truth to free these wrongfully accused individuals.
May Amanda and Raffaele go on to help others and to use the gifts they have, and what they have learned, in their future careers. It is finally Over...
Best, Kenneth Janeway for the "American Committee To Free Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito".
