Cash came to us after his owner passed away in hospice. He was passed from home to home throughout the neighborhood until a wonderful woman stepped in and realized he needed more specialized care. She trusted us to find him the perfect forever home.

Cash is an absolute lover and cuddle bug who enjoys playing but would also be perfectly happy as an only dog. He takes his medication like a champ right out of your hand or in a pill pocket. He LOVES swimming (he’ll bark at the edge of the pool until you let him in!), enjoys walks and car rides, has great recall, is very food motivated, and isn’t destructive. Since being neutered, he hasn’t marked or hu**ed. His foster mom affectionately calls him her “garage dog” because he’d rather hang out in the man cave, drink a beer with the boys, and watch NASCAR. 😂

Cash has severe degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) with significant enlargement of the left side of his heart. He has had a full cardiac workup, including an echocardiogram, and recently had a complete dental with multiple extractions. Because of the severity of his heart disease, this was the last dental procedure he can safely undergo.

Current Medications:

💊 Furosemide 12.5 mg (twice daily)
💊 Spironolactone 25 mg

We don’t know if Cash has six months, two years, or even longer. What we do know is that he deserves to spend every day he has left surrounded by love, belly rubs, swimming, walks, and someone who sees far beyond his heart disease. Ginger and her sister were purchased from a Cavapoo breeder by an elderly woman who loved them very much. Unfortunately, this breeder prioritized profit over the well-being of the dogs, selling two puppies from the same litter to an owner who was not properly prepared to care for them for the rest of their lives. While technically Cavapoos, it’s pretty clear the Cavalier genetics won with these girls.

The girls developed what’s commonly known as littermate syndrome, and after realizing they needed more than she could provide, their owner made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to surrender them so they could have the opportunity to thrive as individuals.

Ginger is a shy, sensitive girl who relied heavily on her sister for confidence and really needed to be separated so she could learn how to be a dog on her own. 🌷

Because Ginger gains so much confidence from other dogs, she must have at least one friendly, confident dog in her adoptive home. Having a canine companion helps her feel secure and gives her a role model to follow as she continues building confidence. 🐶💕

She is making progress every day, but her future family should understand that confidence cannot be rushed. With patience, consistency, and love, she will continue to blossom into a wonderful companion. ✨

Pearl’s story is one we won’t soon forget.

When Pearl arrived in rescue, she was completely shut down and terrified. Shortly after arriving, we discovered she was pregnant. Due to her age, she ultimately required an emergency C-section, and tragically, two of her five puppies did not survive. 🕊️

Despite everything she had been through, Pearl proved to be an incredible mother. She devoted herself to her puppies with patience, love, and unwavering dedication while recovering from major surgery herself.

Over the past few months, Pearl has absolutely blossomed. The scared little dog who arrived unsure of the world quickly had her foster mom and dad wrapped around her paws. She has grown into a sweet, loving, affectionate girl who enjoys being part of a family and is finally learning what it means to simply be a dog.

Pearl would do best in a home with at least one other dog and someone who is home often. She takes comfort from her canine companions and thrives when she has both human and dog friends nearby. She does not yet walk on a leash, so a secure yard is required. She is doing an amazing job pottying outside and continues to make progress every day.

To say Pearl is loved would be an understatement. Her foster family has poured their hearts into helping her become the dog she is today, and her foster mom is probably already tearing up reading this post. While we know saying goodbye will be incredibly hard, helping dogs like Pearl find families of their own is what rescue is all about.

Now that her puppies are grown and she has finished raising her family, it’s Pearl’s turn to be spoiled. She deserves a home where she will be cherished, loved, and never have to worry about anything again.

After everything she has been through, we can’t wait to find Pearl the happily ever after she deserves. ❤️

Cora came to us in February as part of the group of retired mill moms we rescued from a large-scale Midwest breeding operation. She is EXACTLY why Cavalier Rescue Foundation exists.

When Cora arrived, she was completely shut down. She was terrified of people, unfamiliar sounds, and everyday life. Simply reaching toward her could cause her to panic, and she would often urinate or defecate out of fear.

Since then, Cora has made incredible progress in foster care. While she still has a long journey ahead of her, she learns a little more every day that the world can be a safe place.

Cora is looking for a very special home with at least one or two confident, friendly dogs who can continue showing her how to be a dog. This is a requirement for her success. She will need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. Months—and possibly years—may pass before she fully comes out of her shell. She may never enjoy walks on a leash or become what most people would consider a “typical” dog.

What Cora needs most is someone willing to love her exactly as she is and celebrate the small victories. A tail wag. A curious glance. Choosing to sit a little closer. Those moments are huge milestones for a dog like Cora.

Many of you may remember Patty Mae from when we posted her back in April. Since then, she has struggled with chronic ear infections that had gone untreated for years. We are happy to report that after months of treatment and follow-up care, her ears are finally under control and she is absolutely thriving! 🌷✨

Patty Mae is a sweet little Velcro girl 🥰 who wants nothing more than to be close to her person. She loves to cuddle 🤍 and would thrive in a home where someone is around often and happy to let her share the couch or bed 🛋️

She is still learning that the world is a safe place 🌷 and will need a patient, understanding adopter who can help build her confidence. New things can be scary, and she may “pancake” when unsure, so patience and kindness will go a long way 💕

Patty Mae absolutely must have at least one other calm, friendly dog in her adoptive home. She loves canine companionship, enjoys snuggling with her dog friends, and gains confidence from having another dog around. 🐶

She is smart ✨ almost fully potty trained, knows sit, comes when called, loves car rides 🚗 and enjoys watching birds outside the window 🐦

She would do best in a home without young children. While she is making wonderful progress, teenage boys are not her favorite people, so a calmer household would be ideal.

Littermate syndrome can lead to extreme codependency, separation anxiety, and resource guarding, which is why we believe these girls will do best if adopted separately.

Nutmeg is the more outgoing and confident of the two. She loves being outside, playing with toys, and does great with other animals. She feels safe in her kennel and is making wonderful progress in her foster home. She isn’t fully potty trained and doesn’t yet know how to walk on a leash, but she’s eager to learn and has all the makings of an amazing companion.

We truly believe Nutmeg is going to blossom in the right home. She would do best with another friendly dog and a family willing to provide patience, consistency, and lots of love as she continues learning how to be a cherished family member. 🩷

Meet Snoopy! He came to us as a breeder release and is definitely showing off his Beagle side. He is extremely independent, a little stubborn, incredibly sweet, and loves to cuddle 🥰

Snoopy loves other dogs 🐶 and would do great with children. He is currently working on potty training in his foster home and would make a wonderful addition to the right family. 🏡💙

As with all puppies, continued potty training, structure, patience, and socialization will be very important 🐾

SCAM ALERT 🚨🚨🚨🚨

RESCUED CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIELS FOR LOVERS AND ADOPTION FACEBOOK PAGE IS A SCAM & many others like it.

There are only a handful of legitimate Cavalier rescues in the United States. If you see posts in Facebook groups offering a “perfect” Cavalier puppy or young Cavalier where an adoption supposedly fell through, it is very likely a scam.

We have had multiple people reach out after being directed to a Facebook group and website falsely claiming to be us, and their website directs people to our Instagram page. We are not affiliated with any other organization.

If you are not communicating directly with Nicole or Erin, it is not us. Please be careful and do not get scammed.

If you work with us, you will always meet your dog in person before being asked to send money or sign an adoption contract. Nicole or Erin will gladly FaceTime with you. Our photos are available on our Instagram and on the About page of our website.

You can verify a legitimate rescue organization through Internal Revenue Service records, your state’s corporate commission (for Arizona, the Arizona Corporation Commission), and GuideStar.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Meet Bentley 👑💙

Bentley is one of two owner surrenders we welcomed this week. He came from a very loving home, and due to circumstances outside of their control, it was in his and his brother’s best interest to come into rescue.

Per his previous owner, Bentley and Charlie would do best placed separately, as they have developed resource guarding around food. His brother is also significantly overweight.

Bentley is a larger Cavalier with longer legs, currently weighing 37 pounds with a goal weight of 25 to 30 pounds. He was seen by our veterinary team and is otherwise healthy.

He is fully potty trained, leash trained, and does not require a kennel. He enjoys playing with other dogs and would do great in a home with at least one other dog. Bentley is truly a perfect gentleman.

🚨 FACEBOOK SCAM ALERT 🚨
PSA for anyone looking to adopt a Cavalier

There are only a handful of legitimate Cavalier rescues in the United States that we know of. We strongly advise against trying to adopt a Cavalier through rehoming groups or random pages.

Over the past several years, and even more frequently this year, we’ve been notified of scammers using photos from legitimate rescues, including ours, to collect donations and adoption fees for dogs that do not exist.

Many of these posts and even entire Facebook groups are now using AI-generated photos and content to appear legitimate.

You can verify rescues through the State Corporation Commission, GuideStar, and IRS.gov. They will be listed as a tax exempt organization.

Fake rescue and adoption scams are a major problem on Facebook. Reporting tools are limited, and these pages are often removed only for the same person to create another one.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Please do your research, verify the organization, and be extremely cautious before sending money.
