We are happy to report, Mohave and Nellie were officially ADOPTED this past weekend! They live in a beautiful home in the west valley and will get spoiled for the rest of their lives. We couldn’t be happier with the amount of love, support and help we received in getting these guys adopted.

By the way, we found out that Mohave does not mind being around other nice dogs at all.

A home of their own....

Two 9-year-old dogs have never had a place to call HOME

Two 9-year-old dogs have never had a place to call HOME

Fall of 2008, at just six months old, Mohave (brown/black) and Nellie (tan) were out fending for themselves in south Phoenix trying to survive each day. Mohave had no use of his right, hind leg and was very weak but their bond was too powerful for them to fail survival. When a rescue group found out about them, they immediately went out to help. Because they were in survival mode for an extended amount of time, they were very fearful of their rescuers, so it was decided to humanely trap them. Once Mohave and Nellie were safe in a trap, they were sent straight to a veterinarian for examination. Fearful, but not aggressive, the vet was able to handle them without problems. After a thorough exam, they were healthy, but malnourished. Mohave’s leg was completely shattered from an old injury and had healed improperly over time. He was using that leg to help him balance so the vet decided it was not necessary to amputate as he showed no signs of pain or discomfort. Their rescuers knew they had a long road ahead of them to gain trust and learn how to be a pet. They promised to give them a life they deserved but never got to experience.
