Dear Scottsdale International Film Festival Patrons,
There is magnificent news to report about the future of this film festival we care about so strongly. You may have found it eerily quiet when there was no 2022 event last year. I’ll admit that it was difficult from my perspective to allow the 22nd season to come and go without a blip on the radar.
Truth be told, the in-person 21st annual event (held after the COVID-19 vaccines were made widely available) was logistically problematic. However, I have for some time been in discussions with another entity to absorb the Festival. Talks successfully culminated this week, and we now begin the next chapter.
I am happy to report that the Scottsdale International Film Festival and the School of Film and Theatre (SSFT) at Scottsdale Community College (SCC) have finalized an agreement for SCC to take over the stewardship of the Festival in perpetuity.
SCC will relaunch the Scottsdale International Film Festival this coming November, and you’ll receive more information about this in due time.
Some of you may wonder about where I will go. For now, I plan to stay involved for as long as SSFT wants my help. The main idea is to ensure the longevity of the event.
Thanks to everyone who made this Festival so spectacular over the years. There are thousands of people who all played a role in its success, and I could not have done it alone.
For those of you who knew I was working on this sequel, I appreciate your patience and faith in my capacity to keep the enterprise alive. ROLL’EM!
