The team was divided today and Mike & Scout participated in the World Mental Health Day NAMIWalks event with Corinn and our friends at NAMI Valley of the Sun.

It is inspiring to know that so many organizations are making a difference in the lives of Veterans throughout the Valley. NAMI provides mental health services, mental health advocacy, education and support for Veterans nationwide.

The time around the campfire at our outdoor adventures is some of the most powerful time we have. It's been proven time and time again that community cures su***de, and around a campfire, the camaraderie that all Veterans experience comes right back.

This past week, the Department of Veterans Affairs released their 2026 National Su***de Prevention Annual Report. This 190-page report confirms statistics that were reported in previous years, with some new findings.

The reason we do what we do at Freedom for Heroes, straight from the report:

"Adjusting for age differences, the su***de rate in 2024 among female Veterans was 99.9% higher than for female non-Veteran U.S. adults, and the age-adjusted rate for male Veterans was 56.5% higher than for male non-Veteran U.S. adults."

Something as simple as gathering around the campfire can lower this number significantly. Your generous support helps make this possible.

Our Second Annual Freedom for Heroes Gala is coming up on March 20, and preparations are under way!

Is this the year for you to join the committee?
Is this the year for your company to join as a sponsor?
Is this the year that you volunteer for the event?
Is this the year that you design a table's decorations?

Right now, we're forming a committee to run this fun event. Committee members commit to securing at least 2 sponsors, along with silent and live auction items. You'll also participate in biweekly committee meetings as you're available, and commit to attending the event on March 20.
